Hill Hold Control?

HHC as far as I'm aware has been a standard feature with the 7 speed DSG but not the 6 due I believe to the 7 being a dry plate system.

But the brochure states that it's standard on the 3.6 V6 and 1.8TSI DSG!!.....even on the latest brochure effective from 25th May 2010! I wasn't even given the chance to option it! We can only go by what's written in the brochure and what we're told by the sales staff! Maybe, everybody should OPTION everything they want on their cars just to be on the safe side!!

That's the emoticon-0106-crying.gif thing about it a a good percentage of sales staff don't actually understand the product their selling in detail themselves; knew more about the Fabia II FL from a day on the Internet than any of the salesmen I spoke to emoticon-0112-wondering.gif SUK are also well known for printing duff gen, don't think they have heard of proof reading and technical authors emoticon-0136-giggle.gif

Even if it's written on the order form it's no guarantee it will turn up with it as I found out but at least they have to do something about it.

Picked up our 1.8 Elegance DSG today and happy to say HHC is present and working. Odd choice to have it on lower engine spec but not top of the range, but not going to complainemoticon-0100-smile.gif

Loving it so far- panoramic roof really makes the difference- I think we were lucky to get in just in time. Umbrella also present.

HI,

got mine Superb Combi w/o HHC, because I needed car right away and didn't want to wait for Skoda to build me a custom one. Now I'm looking into retrofiting HHC, it's a 6 speed MT and 2.0 tdi. Does superb have special button beside gear lever if it has HHC or not. From what I'we figured out, HHC and tire pressure are somehow connected for MT versions.

The dealer already said it can't be retrofited (I was expecting that.)

Won't you need some kind of solinoids on the calipers or handbrake mechanism?

HHC operates with specific ABS/ESP unit and some computer magic AFAIK. If I enable computer logic and already have the right ABS unit it should work. I've seen it done to older Passats, but not yet on Superb. As it's only 100€ option here in Slovenia, I suspect all Superb ABS units (2011) support this. On Passat there is also a button beside gear lever, so I'm investigating if it's the same here and if tire pressure control and HHC can work separately?

I think everything should be there to activate this function (ABS/ESP/...). So the question is: is it possible to enable this function via VAG-COM?

You need to read the small print on the Skoda (and every other manufacturers) brochure. The Roomster brochure says (and I am sure the Superb brochure is similar)...

The information in this brochure referring to specification, design, equipment, material and external appearance relate to the time at which this brochure was printed. Whilst every effort is made to ensure its accuracy, the information in this brochure is not binding and is subject to alteration..

... Please confirm exact specifications, prices and colour availability with your Skoda Retailer who will be notified of any specification changes as they occur.

You need to look at the contract you have with the dealer as this is where your complaint is. You were told and it was implied in this contract that your vehicle would have HHC. At no time did the dealer tell you this was not the case. They have supplied you with goods that do not fulfil the terms of your contract with them. The fact that Skoda changed the spec and did not inform the dealer is not your issue, that is something for the dealer to resolve with Skoda. The dealer should have checked the goods they supplied to you were in line with the contract they had with you. Obviously the dealer has not checked this and supplied an incorrect spec without informing you.

I know from my purchasing experience that Skoda brochures are as clear as mud when it comes to exact specifications especially with the gearbox, braking and ESP configurations.

HHC is not the same as the auto hold in the Passat, so there is no button to activate it. It just works when it needs to stop you rolling back on a slope.

I was writing about TPMS button. HHC and TPMS come together, at least in my country. I would be perfectly satisfied with first.

I have heard of brochure cockups before from Skoda, I seem to recall something with the Wifes VRS too.

I get my nearly new V6 next week and have an email from the dealer telling me it has HHC, from this thread I'd assume there is a fair change it won't have so that could be an interesting discussion. I drove the 170 and was surprised it rolled backwards down a slope in drive, didn;t think autos did that, lol, then pressed the pedal right down and it hung on for a couple of seconds so guess that had it.

Will be checking it out next week, too be honest I'm not overvly concerned either way but now they have said it has it I want it to be there and work i suppose :-)

I was told when I ordered my car that the hill hold was not required. It most definitely is and I rejected my car when I found out and got a replacement with the hill hold fitted.

The thread of my discussions is still on this site and you might like to see how it all worked out.

Hi,

My 140 Hatch, new last week, doesn't seem to have HHC fitted. Anyone know the code? Is it the same code for all cars?

There seems to be so much missing from my car that is in the Owners Manual that it's a bit useless.

Kind Regards,

Emberto

According to the brochure Hill Hold Control is an Optional Extra on virtually all models. Having not ordered on my current car with DSG box, I made sure to order it for my new car arriving soon.

Hi Emberto,

I too nearly made that mistake. I read the owner's manual from cover to cover and assumed from the words used therein that HHC was an integral part of the electronic stability programme. That's what the manual says. At least I discovered this and was able to add it to my order. I complained to Skoda but i don't know if they'll try to make things any clearer in the manual...like it's not necessarily integrated into ESP for every model! I think it is only standard with the 1.8TSI DSG engine.
