Vrs II Delivery time

Recommended Posts

Hi all, 16 week lead time - need I say more.

Great service before I ordered, as tested VRS Octavia to Scotland and back via lease company, order went in mid April.

One dealer said 8--10, another 10-12.

Have been told delivery late August !!!

I expect the summer shutdown to account for a few weeks.

Optional Zenon headlghts, was to be red.

Getting to the stage where I'll cancel order... as using pool car at present with only 105bhp- not happy.

Going back to complain and see if any other colour free on production line sooner, as long as Zenons. I don't expect any improvement.

What have anyone else been told re delivery times of VRS(car with options) ?

Yes 'build list', worth an ask .

I remember at Mini, they allocate cars from the body in white stage onwards, so there maybe a 'free' body sooner but would not have a say in colour.

Thanks

Just relax and wait for the car you really want. It's only a matter of weeks and it will be worth the wait.

im in the same situation ordered the car from vag leasing end of feb ,and am expecting dellivery of the car 2nd week of june.

my car has no optional extras fitted. i also have a pool car at the moment an avensis with 143k which i also have to pay

company car tax on as i elected to use the octavia as a company car. just hoping my car will arrive on time as i have had no

access to build dates etc.

Here's me thinking a old A3 1.9Diesel was bad, and you're in a Toyota.

I am trying to look forward, trying not to wish my life away but hard not to because of prize at end.

Great news if came in earlier, but assume from replies that it's unlikely.

At least I'll get the new plate.

Ta all

vRS in Black Magic and no other extras ordered 30/4/10 - built and sat in VW port at Emden, Germany.

My dealer reckons another 3-4 weeks!

I hope he's being pessimistic so I'm happy when it arrives sooner.

2 weeks sounds realisting, if it's 4 that probably means they don't have more than one ship.....

I know the UK import centre is at the old air base at Greenham in Brerkshire.

You done much better than me.

Ordered a Spec'd up L&K on the 5th of May. Got a call from the dealer yesterday telling me delivery will be 21st of August to them, but they will turn it around in a day.

That would be 16 weeks.

Told him if this is the case, I want it delivered to my door on the 31st of August, so I can go out at 5am on the 1st and drive the 200 miles up to my office.

Not too bothered about getting a 60 as I have a private plate, and the car will be a yr11 anyway.

I ordered my new vRS with extras last week. Have been promised it on 1 September, which I presume means it will be with the dealer a week or so prior to that as they need to get the towbar done (by a local specialist).

To be fair I haven't been given a build week though.

VRS with most options selected ordered on 5th of May

The order form says "20 to 24 weeks wait"

Not to bothered really traded in cars are still under warranty and price agreed so might aswell hang out for a 60 plate

My problem is that my car (407sw) is about to hit the big 80k service, and I have an extended warranty so I need to get it done. £170.00. Atleast I have managed to get it down from £450.00.

All I hope is that I dont need any tyres/brakes etc.

2 weeks to cross the sea is about right.

What is facinating is how much dealers vary in the information they give to customers.

Some given vague clues (like mine), others give build weeks and even delivery dates well into the future. Now either they all know what's going on and some choose not to tell their customers, or other like to have a punt in the dark and hope they are right. Consistency would be nice.

My father ordered a VW Bora years ago (52 plate if I remember correctly). At that time he got weekly emails from VW telling him how it was progressing, where it was in production, shipping etc. I enquired of my dealer why I wasn't getting the same all these years later. He reckoned Skoda had never offered this and VW had updated their ordering software this year and such a facility was't available.

Just frustrating with some people knowing lots and me having to keep on at my dealer.

To be fair The information available is very good, the last new car i bought (a 53 plate clio), I went into the dealer, paid a £500 deposit was told "Oh, it'll be about 10 weeks", and got a letter 8 weeks later with my VRM and telling me to get myself some insurance and let them have the cover note 5 days prior to collection.

At least now the dealer is able to tell me a more precise date of manufacture/delivery and through the skoda drive away insurance I don't have to muck about getting cover notes etc. The plus point of knowing when your manufacture date is that when you have a part ex with an agreed mileage you can plan your car usage to ensure you don't run over the mileage

[As you say 'GingerJuan'

Vague is the answer - I had new minis back in the early 90's and the dealer computer could see when the body in white was allocated mine (ie.next free colour, black in my case), when painted, when out the factory door...... Surely somewhere this exists today? but probably not for anyones eyes outside the VW group high up's.

What a good idea to be able to see live build progression - come on Skoda, what great marketing ahead of your parent German companies..

I'm ranting but as we're all petrol heads you may find this interesting OR not!.

I worked with a company called Pepperl&Fuchs who did read write microwave tags for car production lines, I helped instal and set up the BMW mini system.

On their web they used to mension it as a KISS system. With this, every build station knew(and had ready) parts for that car, ie. wheels for US spec etc..... You could progress any car on the line at any time to help with bottlenecks and production control (my business). As a result of this they made 4 extra cars per day by just having £100K of sensors and readers installed on production line.

do all dealers have this list available? I am given a 12 week maximum wait for my company car so this would be useful
