Nokia X6

Featured Replies

My daughter has just visited and has a Nokia X6 mobile. I liked the look of it but didn't get a chance to try to pair it with my Superb Elegance. Anyone using one or know if it will pair OK? It supports SAP, but I cannot see any mention of rSAP.

TIA! :)

I've now had a chance to look in the (downloaded) User Manual, which states:

Remote SIM mode

With remote SIM mode, you can use a compatible car kit accessory. Before remote SIM mode can be activated, the two devices must be paired and the pairing initiated from the other device. When pairing, use a 16-digit passcode, and set the other device as authorised.

Select Menu > Settings and Connectivity > Bluetooth.

Activate remote SIM mode

1 Activate Bluetooth connectivity. Select Bluetooth.

2 Activate remote SIM mode in your device. Select Remote SIM mode.

3 Activate remote SIM mode in the other device.

When remote SIM mode is activated, Remote SIM mode is displayed in the home screen. The connection to the wireless network is closed, and you cannot use SIM card services or features that require cellular network coverage. When your device is in remote SIM mode, you can only make or receive calls using the connected accessory. Your device can only make calls to the emergency numbers programmed into your device.

I still can't work out if this mobile is going to pair correctly! Any views, am I missing something obvious, losing the plot, etc?

Hi Ray,

I can see no reason why the X6 wouldn't work. It's running mostly the same software as the N97, and that works fine in the Superb.

Simply turn on remote SIM mode, and pair it with the car. That's exactly how my E71 and E72 work.

Cheers,

Andy.

Thanks for that, Andy. All I need is to be able to make and receive calls on the move - nothing else. The X6 isn't on the compatibility list from my dealer, but then that's not a deal-breaker and neither are your E71 and E72 or the N97! :)

However, I need to be certain before I go ahead, as I'll need to change my mobile plan. I'd hate to do that, only to find it won't work, hence why I was looking for a definitive answer. I'm aware that your "should do"s are practically definitive anyway!

The compatibility list is woefully out of date and does not include any handset released in the last few years. I dont think its been revised since the original one was put together.

All Nokia handsets, especially recent ones should work considering they developed the RSAP standard. My antique office 6021 works perfectly for example.

Just to conclude this thread, the Nokia X6 pairs with and performs beautifully with the Superb. Thanks for reassuring me enough to get the mobile (also excellent, BTW). :)
