Audi A3 1.8T (with sports suspension ;)) and Lexus GS300 (also bearing sport badges and 18" wheels!)....

Erm...

Celica GT4....!!

Despite it's rapido performance, it was a handful when driven hard, and tail happy on lift off which always made me wary.

Awesome for 120+ cruising upon saying that, and fair blasted out of bends, but flawed nonetheless.

Test drove an MG ZT 190+ once. Very underpowered and felt like a barge on the road...

Mini Cooper S, was impressed at all!

A Skoda Fabia vRS. Very sluggish compared with the Octy.

Keep your pants on was just joking :).

i hope you werent william they are very slow...

compared with a real vRS.

most unfast fast car i have ever experieced has to be .....

Peugeot 206 GTi

Hows about the old Toyota Supra 3.0i and 3.0i Turbo

Great looks back then, whopping great engine with lots of horses, trouble was most of them were fit for the knackers yard, stamp on the throttle, listen to the 'turbo' whinneying but nothing happened!

A dud car for chest wig wearing medallion men.

I think the wildest car I had was the Rover 400 Turbo (200bhp) as it was blinding in a straight line (which was hard as it torque steered like a drunken shopping trolley) and actually handled OK too!

Mk4 Golf GTi 180. Absolutely NO go in it whatsoever. Then tried the Golf TDI130. MUCH better. It's what sold me on the Fabia!

Yeah they are like. What do you expect, its a diesel...

Yeah, I guess there must be some other explanation as to why I kept up with the Octy's no problem on the last northern meet ;)

That was because they took pity on you :D .

That was because they took pity on you :D .

Yep, they were, bless'em. :)

When it comes down to it the Octy accelerates faster and has a higher top speed, but how many situations will you do max acceleration right to the max speed? So in real life the difference in the figures for the Octy vRS and the Furby vRS are not going to make as big a difference as driver skill/daring could make.

Still clinging on to that one are you Paul ?

Public roads...traffic....but we'll conveniently forget those eh? ;)

However if we're judging performance on that day. Who had to slow down and wait for everyone heading into Osmotherley?

Oh, that'll be me

Come to a track day, i can pretty much guarantee you won't be keeping up. :)

Yep, I would have got an Octy, but being a tramp I couldnt afford one :o

Yep, my car is too slow, and I am not used to driving quickly. Please have pity on me... ;)

Ah yes, comparing a 130 bhp standard diesel with a 230 bhp Octavia. Thats a fair contest isnt it...

You're the one claiming you kept up "with the Octys".

Can't have it both ways mate ;)

But you have bigger feet too Geoff :D

I know, but it made me feel good deluding myself, please forgive me...

But you have bigger feet too Geoff :D

An undeniable fact :D

You should see my work boots

Whatever the reasons' date=' I DID keep up. Whether you lot were driving slow I dunno, but it certainly didnt seem like it to me.

Anyway, I think I'll just shut up now since this conversation looks like its going downhill.[/quote']

Road driving isn't a true comparison of a car's performance.

Too many variables...traffic, road conditions etc.

Needs a nice clear Autobahn or a track. :)

As for going downhill, well look at who threw the Fabia into the mix...say no more ;)

Road driving isn't a true comparison of a car's performance.

Heck, even my lard-a** 1.6 managed to keep up with Q, Nick and miscellaneous assorted Octy vRS'. And they didn't even know I was following them, so weren't waiting for me or anything.

And my car *is* a slow piece of crap... :D
