Average age of skoda drivers going down?

Featured Replies

I'm waiting for my Skoda Superb Estate 170 to arrive. I was looking at other superbs on the road (not that I can see many), but whenever I see one, it usually contains a driver older than me. Now I am not ageist, but wondered what the average age of superb owners was on here. And whether you think that the recent resurgence in Skoda will drop their average age (a bit like what the new Honda Civic did to their average age when it was launched).

I'm 31 by the way, and when I told my mates i'd ordered a Skoda I was greeted by lots of s******s. (I know these s******s won't last long when they see it). I think it still takes a brave person to rise above this attitude in the UK especially amongst the slightly younger generation.

Your thoughts?

I'm 33 and getting a 170dsg elegance Hatchback this week. I'm getting from most of the guys in work. 'It's a Skoda, I don't care how good it is' I'll show them at the end of the week. I have looked at every option open to me 5 series, A4, 3 Series, Accord, C Class, the list is long as our compnay doesnt have restriction on what you can buy and the Skoda is way ahead interms of everything I think.

I also like the fact that the badge says you don't follow the crowd.

I've always been into cars that didn't really fit into my age range...

at 17, i acquired and learnt to drive in a 4 year old 1.8 TD Mondeo TD - this was followed by a 2.2 CRD PT Cruiser at age 19 - age 23 seen me with a 2.5CRDi Kia Sorento - and now, at age 27 (26 when i ordered it!) a Superb 170 4x4 Estate... i like BIG cars (as you can prob tell!) They drive better and suit my needs more than say, a Corsa.

As yet, since ordering in February and delivery in Late May, covering over 3250 miles with my Superb, have only seen ONE other estate on the road!

Had a mark 1 Octy vRS first year they turned up, so I was about 25, now coming back for a second dose some 8 or so years later.

Well, I'm only 24 but I've had a very hard life!4.gif

Skoda Superb Estate and age: 31.

It seems that the higher spec and higher end Skodas are being bought by younger more enthusiastic owners. Isn't it about time that Skoda U.K. realise this and train up the dealers to also have a bit more enthusiasm. Many seem to be stuck in the rut which seems to be chasing the poverty-spec models customers (the grey pound) where the easy money lies and keeps the targets up.

I know that some dealers have enthusiastic sales people, but most are just good at "moving metal".

Although I have just reached the magic "50" I have always loved my cars and to me they are more than just a workhorse. I have had many different marques and this is my third Skoda, Octy Elegance, Octy L&K, and now Superb Elegance. The Superb is without doubt the best car I have owned so far.

I'm 29 and got an Superb Elegance 2.0 TDi 170 DSG.

So, maybe company car buyers are getting younger for these machines.. ? Mine is a private purchase, but I can see if you have a set budget you could not go wrong as you get such a lot for the money - I assume that is how it works.. So the clever company car owner drives a A6 Estate for £25K ;-).

So Daformah if we see each other on the road, we'll both have to take a second look - just to believe what we are seeing ;-)

I'm a private buyer - no company car scheme at my place - 29 years old and currently driving an Octavia vRS. Due to replace it in about 12 months time (subject to wife agreement!) and it will be replaced with a Superb Estate Elegance - by which time I will be 30.

Like Jaguar, for my money Skoda are having a product-led revolution, and buyers who are serious about their cars, do their research and are more interested in the quality and abilities of a car than they are in what the drones at the office think are coming to the conclusion that for any given budget Skoda probably make a car which is better than all competitors. Car magazine (I think it was) wrote a brief review of the Superb estate recently and posed the question at the end "why does anybody buy Audis any more?".

It's a very fair point!

I'm sorry to drag the average up, but I am 50 - but only 25 inside :-) Superb TDI CR 140

Before that a Octavia TDi 140 DSG and before that Octavia TDi 105 and Fabia TDi 102 - Octavia 1.6i -

Pasat 1.8 - MB 190E - Fiat Duna - Seat 1430 - Fiat 132 - Ford 20M - Ford 17M and a Fiat 127 and the very first a VW 1200 mod.1962 (Beatle)

I should have kept the Beatle B)

you guys make me feel old!!!! 37yr old - taken delivery today of Suberb Estate 2.0 TDi (170) SE with metallic, MDI, Phone thingy and Metallic - great, great car - got no work done today as I offered to go out to get milk for the office, then sandwiches, then to Staples for accounts dept to get some stationary, then even offered to drop the post off for the first time in 10 yrs :smirk:

Im 24 - Fabia vRS.

I was 18 when I bought my first Skoda, an Estelle 120LE although that was in 1984 :giggle:

It doesn't suprise me, the Fabia is one cute car, the Yeti is appealing to those that like something quirky, Octy is a bit more mature other than in VRS spec, and the Superb is exactly what it says on the boot, add in the fact that you get so much more inclusive when you buy and it's no suprise why the motorists both old and young is looking at Skoda's, I'm in a VW now, but the fondness of my Superb will last a lifetime, and when the new one becomes affordable I will probably get one, even though I hate the rear, I can see the car offers more than enough to compensate.

... Now I am not ageist, but wondered what the average age of superb owners was on here.

Why? Overall image of the marque, likely manner of driving, other age-related stereotype? Do you actually think that there will be more younger drivers in the Superb price range?

I've been in Skodas since 2004 (Octy Elegance DSG which I intended to see me out), changing to a Superb Elegance DSG in 2008 because I could and because I loved it. I'm 65 this year, but far from typical when it comes to driving ability. Averages are just that - telling us nothing but the middle point. :)

I've just ordered a Superb SE 1.8Tsi.

I'm not even 25 yet (although I will be when I get it..)

I don't think it has anything to do with driving ability..? Just curious to find out what ages people are when they decide to purchase a Superb. 25 or 65 it doesn't really matter, just interesting to see where the brand is going and how attitudes are changing. If you'd have asked the same question about the old Superb then I bet the average age would be a lot higher.

I don't think there will be more younger drivers in the Superb pice range particularly, but it is surprising to see how many people have commented who are young. It just goes to show that Skoda are getting it right, and are catering for all age groups with their products.
