Average age of skoda drivers going down?

Featured Replies

If you'd have asked the same question about the old Superb then I bet the average age would be a lot higher.

That's a good point - I get your drift, now, thanks. :)

Purchased first Skoda Superb in 2000, aged 55, Skoda Superb II in 2008 age 63, another Superb II arriving September this year at Age 65, this will throw out the average age. I was in the motor trade for over 40 years, owned many makes of car, until Skoda never bought the same make twice.

Average age of new owners is getting quite interesting.

It just goes to show that Skoda are getting it right, and are catering for all age groups with their products.

I'm 6ft 4 and getting into a car where I have to bring the seat in abit to use the clutch was a huge selling point.

The car looks imposing, looks classy, has good performance, good features. And all for decent Vauxhall Astra money!

So, maybe company car buyers are getting younger for these machines.. ? Mine is a private purchase, but I can see if you have a set budget you could not go wrong as you get such a lot for the money - I assume that is how it works.. So the clever company car owner drives a A6 Estate for £25K ;-).

So Daformah if we see each other on the road, we'll both have to take a second look - just to believe what we are seeing ;-)

I had my Octy when I was 35, however, I'll be passing the big '40' next month and am currently driving a Superb.

Both my Skodas have been company cars. The Superb with £1,500 of extras came in ay £17,500, however, it doesn't look out of place on the driveways of million pound houses I often visit in connection with work. Indeed, on seeing me arrive in my Rosso Brunello Superb, one such property owner took me inside his garage to show me his 750iL in EXACTLY the same colour, although, no doubt called something different by BMW.

The Superb represents an awful lot of car for the money. The Combi is better looking and has more rear headroom than the hatchback, however, with the rear Twindoor, the hatchback is almost as versatile.

Was in a MK1 Octavia at age 21

Had a Sahara Beige, DSG 2.0TDI PD Mk2 last year (25/26)

Octy vRS FL now (27)

I'm 39 and drive a Superb Elegance 170.

It's a company car and I had the choice of anything that could be leased for the same cost as a BMW 318d SE.

My colleagues all like it, but not one other will choose a Skoda. In the main they choose Golf GTIs, the BMW, Audi A4 and the new most popular choice is the Volvo XC60.

My first Skoda was at 32, a Superb 130PD Comfort, also a company car....back then I really took a lot of stick. I then opted out of the company car scheme in 2006 and bought an Octavia vRS 200PS...boy I loved that car!

The reason I think the Superb is so popular with company car drivers is that (like me) they will be choosing between the Superb and things like the Insignia/Mondeo as the same size cars or premium cars like the BMW 3 and Audi A4 which are physically smaller. The Superb is (IMHO) the only answer for size and quality.

If I could have an Audi A6 with 170CR, full leather, Satnav, Xenons etc etc then that is what I'd choose but it's simply not an option.

I'm 65 this year, but far from typical when it comes to driving ability. Averages are just that - telling us nothing but the middle point. emoticon-0100-smile.gif

Careful Ray, if someone at Skoda sees this, they will be designing a collapsable Zimmer Frame that slots into the door card, and then the ave age will go back up. emoticon-0140-rofl.gif

Currently 38 Superb Elegance 170 DSG....with heated windscreen :giggle:

But bought my first superb when 31

Bought my Superb 1 when I was 25, now 26. Would love a Superb 2 but its way out of my price range :p. Superb 1 for Ford Focus money - No Brainer.

Just got my first Skoda at the age of 47 - but I have a mental attitude of a 9-year old so does that lower the average? :giggle:

32 yrs old.... I've just ordered my first skoda...

Superb Combi Elegance 170cv

32 years old and awaiting delivery of my first skoda superb

I'm waiting for my Skoda Superb Estate 170 to arrive. I was looking at other superbs on the road (not that I can see many), but whenever I see one, it usually contains a driver older than me. Now I am not ageist, but wondered what the average age of superb owners was on here. And whether you think that the recent resurgence in Skoda will drop their average age (a bit like what the new Honda Civic did to their average age when it was launched).

I'm 31 by the way, and when I told my mates i'd ordered a Skoda I was greeted by lots of s******s. (I know these s******s won't last long when they see it). I think it still takes a brave person to rise above this attitude in the UK especially amongst the slightly younger generation.

Your thoughts?

I am a grey, wrinkly, old fart, grumpy old man, Victor Meldrew, and all of the rest of descriptions of older people in this country. I drive a lovely red yeti and certainly from my experience I do not notice that a majority of drivers come into the old fart category, I would say at thirty one if image is a priority maybe any skoda would not be the best car for you, as there is still badge snobbery connected to this brand name, but as you are intelligent enough to know that Skoda make excellent products be proud to be the owner of your Skoda. Enjoy your new car and the prestige that comes from owing such a beautiful car

Thanks... I will ;-) - I have no problem with image.. I lost that when I had two kids!

I was 25 when I got my first Octavia vRS.

Will be 27 shortly (mid August) expecting delivery of a new FL one End Aug/ Sept

I joined a company that offered a car allowance.

For around £300 a month I can get a PCP deal on a CR 170 DSG

Drove so many cars looking for something around the £18k mark, and the Skoda was miles ahead.

To get a similar spec Golf / Passat / A3 / A4 would have been at least £3k more making it unaffordable

The Octy trumps most Golfs and A3 due to the boot size, which is really useful for me as I play music on the weekends and can shove all manner of guitar and equipment in the boot no problem.

Standard spec on the vRS is pretty tasty, even better now with the FL.

Skoda really are a no brainer if you are in the market for somethnig like a Golf or Passat, the Octy or Superb are equal or better for much less cash.

Im trying to get colleagues and friends to check them out. When I get a bit older / family I would definitely look at a superb. For now, the Octy is way big enough.

32 years old and waiting for my first skoda superb combi elegance 170cv ...

cheers..... :)

  • 1 month later...

31 and ordered my superb at the weekend
