TSi mpg

Featured Replies

With all the pro-dervers out there I thought I'd start a threads for the petrolheads as I have been really impressed with the MPG from the last fill up :)

Ok, after coming from a Focus ST and then a 6.1 V8 Jeep SRT, practically anything else would amaze me but on my latest fill, with a mix of mainly motorway and a bit of town I'm getting 40+ mpg! I think that's fantastic for a 200bhp petrol car!

Anyone do a lot better?

no lol, take abou 15mpg off of that lol. i do drive mine though :giggle: and its now due is service, so that might explain the low fuel as well

My scout is currently giving around 37/38 on mixed journeys and 21/22 towing the caravan. Very slowly improving as It's not even done 6000 miles yet.

Interesting that vRS and TSi coming out similar considering differences in size and power.

The car is over a year old now and MPG just gets better and better went to Scotland at the weekend to pick my daugther up quick turn-around 320miles total trip, clock showing 39 MPG and thats going on the coldstream road (A697).

I drove Baildon to Leeds which is a 14 mile run the other day and averaged 52mpg in my TFSI vRS! Thats a record. Previous best was 48. Most of the time though I average mid to low 30's but most driving is town driving a short journeys.

That seems rather high! I managed 44 mpg on the motorway after remap :D normally averagwe on a work journey 33-34 mpg

I get nowhere near that...i consistently get 34mpg

once I did a long run on the motorway at 60mph but still only got @ 40mpg.

I like to drive enthusiastically if I wanted big mpg id have bought a smelly diesel!

i must add - 40mpg is not typical for me - just really impressed its possible without toooo much effort! In the 2500 miles I've done so far i think its averaging around 33mpg which I'm still hugely happy with. i tend to do more longer runs than town stuff tho.

If you're getting more than 34mpg then you should be deported to the diseasal camp :p (only kidding!)

If i try, i can get ~42ish about town but i reckon there's still some more to be had without resorting to the extreme hypermiling stuff. I keep promising myself, next tank of fuel is for good behaviour only, but its so hard :'( turbos rock :giggle:

Motorway at an indicated 80mph (real 74 ish) is typically around 31mpg indicated (real 29.5mpg?), take off cruise control and keep the accelerator in one position for 80mph on the flat puts that up to indicated ~35mpg. Drop the speed to 56mph, again manual throttle (no movement, so naturally slowing on uphills and speeding on downhills, or remove throttle altogether) will get an indicated 53mpg, real 50?

Mighty impressive any which way you cut it. Especially for having 208 horses under the right foot.

I had been getting around 34mpg for my average trip to work.. since getting a piperX air filter fitted its gone up to 36/37ish, doing normal driving on a motorway round trip Wales/Liverpool/Preston and back that way did 40mpg, and that was mixed speeds but not overally lightfooted! I am still on only 8000+ miles nearly due a service (free)

Over 6,000 miles, my trip average is 39.6mpg in my TSI vRS. I'm impressed. B)

No motorway driving either.
