Lowering Fabia VRS

Featured Replies

Hi Guys,

What lowering springs would you recommend for a Fabia VRS, I would like to go low but due to funds I can't afford coilovers..

I was reading somewhere that some springs are bouncy ? I havent had bouncyness from any other cars that I've lowered..

I hope someone can shed some light and help on this as I'd like to set about buying asap as the standard height on a VRS looks like its on stilts imo

Tbh I'm after looks over performance

Try the search function mate, this subject has been done to death, and kittens also litter the battlefield.

i used Spax springs on mine, took it down around 40mm and it looked fantastic.

ive just taken them off and gone back to standard though, as i need to get the original comfort back!

HI

I usually reccomend to replace springs and shockers if the car has done over 40-60k miles , as it is the shcokers that wear out

To be fair , we have sold a few of the STR.T kits , and one has just posted

ARB`s help too , and James has just fitted 2

There was a full suspension thread in the Fabia section , so may be worth checking that out

Dont diss the coilovers , as we have a deal on the KW ones too , cracking price

As mentioned it's always best to get matched springs and shocks as it'll give you better ride and handling quality.

If you did just want to use springs then the best option would be the Eibach Pro's which seem to work pretty well with the standard VRS dampers but do give quite a subtle drop.

agreed just fit a set to mine with std shockers and they are 100% better not a harsh ride dropped it 25mm so looks better and corners much better but a rarb is now needed  back end is abit light now under hard cornering

+1 for RARB - great bit of kit

if you want looks go for technix coilovers only ride adjustable but are about 200 quid! TUV approved and 3 year warranty, i can hook a brother up if you want :giggle: i know someone who sells them!

i have some apex springs 40mm drop on standard shocks, and one word describes the ride = Poo

i know im asking for trouble if i dont get matching shocks but the springs are seriously rubbish, the only plus is that i now drive a normal car and not a 4x4 which is always good. when the coil overs arrive il be a happy man :)

I have the same set-up and the ride is dam good tbh - a little firm but not bouncy. Not much body roll either.

I also have this set up and to be honest its a little unpredictable, sure there is a little less body roll but i dont rate them on the bounciness especially on the twisty....hence why this time around im just going to bite the bullet and buy actually coilovers.

No offense to anyone here and i have done this on three different cars myself but just fitting lower springs is a stupid idea on the long run, you just wear the shocks out faster, can end up with a car that even when settled doesnt look flat (up at the front more of vice versa) So it doesnt perform or look that that much better...OR....maybe i just have crap luck and my cars end up all shwonky and cack :giggle:

theres no reason why you cant get some decent entry level coilies (WEITEC or AP) for under 400 quid, itd be worth the cash in the long run!

i'm with you fabvrs2009. i bought the springs purely because it was a cheap solution to the car being well to high. the next plan as you say is to invest in some AP coilovers which arnt overly priced for what you get, when you think about the price you would pay if you replaced the suspension with new oem springs and shocks.

i just get a lot of bounce from mine and they notice every bump which isnt good. i dont notice the body role so much, but its very unstable at higher end speeds.

you live and learn right, good job they only cost me £90 including fitting :) cheap mistake id say

Well we have the GB on the WHiteline ones at the moment so perfect time to buy, £135 all in

Without matching shocks it will spring all over the place on knackered or bouncy roads. Try the ones around Peterborough - White Post Rd was a diversion when Eye Green was dug up.

More to the point, it won't recover as quicky if you hit a bit of loose or potholed road surface, particularly in corners.

I once said if money was no object, I'd get the best dampers I could buy (particularly the fronts). Can you justify getting KW variant 3 inox or similar for your Fabia? More to the point, do you know someone who can set it up properly for varied road use? Obviously you can try to spend lots more on suspension but AST, EXE-TC and Ohlins don't list the Fabia as a supported model.

Just to forward on from Sarah's here is the link to our webby for the rear ARB :D

Personally I have always been a fan of the Eibach coilovers for the Fabia/Polo/Ibiza chassis! Really nice ride for general use, from roads with loads of pot holes and nice and smooth ones..... there are some in the UK!!! Just very hard to find!!! :(

Not only that a friend of mine has got them on his Ibiza track car and it is brillaint on track... When I had my Ibiza FR with just springs could not keep up in the twisties!!

Mike :D

Ah , I am training him well :D

Don`t forget we price match too Mike ;)
