EGR delete - ASZ

Check under the carpet in your boot, there should be a big sticker on the floor and it will say amongst other things the engine type code

how do you know which engine is which,is it stamped blt or asz anywhere. ta

tells you in inside page of the vrs handbook...

I ran a 57mm egr delete on my old vrs asz engine for 40k no problems

Now running a larger 62mm egr delete for maximum flow :8 on an asz too

The only gain is no soot build up in the inlet manifold, and slightly improved throttle response under light loads only. The negatives are slight reduction in MPG, and increased combustion temperatures at sustained cruise speeds, with engine under light load. There is some debate as to wether that would result in valve seat damage, if car driven lightly most of the time.

The car will also stick out a lot more NOX which is extremely toxic.

although NOX is not tested for during an mot in the uk!

I might just go along with it. Chances are it wont be like this for too long anyway as i'm thinking I want a petrol turbo car in the near future...

are you disconnecting the pipe from the ufo and asking what if you disconnect the anti shudder pipe and leave open?

leave the anti shudder pipe connected.

Noo, i've got an EGR delete pipe on there now. But before I start her up I want to know whether I should block the lower hose that was on the EGR or vent it to atmosphere (the ASV hose)

block both..

you'll be back ! you will miss the torque, reliability and fuel economy of a diesel !

believe me!

ive built 500 bhp cosworth engines in mk1 escorts

ITB'd 2.0 litre williams clios

took my peugeot 205 to way over 200 bhp weighing less than 750 kilos !

and nothing puts a smile on my face like a punch in the face from the torque a diesel gives you

as said..

leave the egr in place and disconnect the top rubber pipe and blank off

then vent cc to atmosphere

the search will bring up everything you need to know on this topic!!

by the looks of things it has come up many many times
