Why not to drive your Skoda Fabia FL 1.2tsi in the rain !

Featured Replies

I just thought i'd share with you guys the possibly dangerous issue i have with my Fabia. As you are aware the car is about 7 - 8 weeks old done about 1200 miles and this is what Skoda are expecting me to put up with at the moment.

Obviously a dangerous issue, but cars break and its only a mechanical or electrical part that can and will be fixed

Have you checked the fuse for the front window motor? I believe that it is Fuse 44 - 20A.

Sorry i forgot to post, if you come back to it tomorrow morning say it'll be fine and work. You normally have to leave it somewhere between 6-10 hours and then everything works for a day or so then you have the problem again. Yeh tried fuses.

Sorry to hear your having problems; not seen this since the days of owning a Rapid Coupe when rain water used to short out the motor contacts at the most inopportune moments.

Just a thought but with the Yeti if the bonnet is not down and locked then the wipers don't work. Is this the same for the Fabia and if so is a false signal being generated by a misaligned or faulty sensor :wonder:

Regards,

TP

Yeh fabia is the same but the bonet is down. They were working then just randomly stop. It's all very strange

Reading earler posts of yours about your car, I can understand why you are becoming increasingly annoyed. I hope that the problems are fixed once and for all soon, and it would be helpful if you could then post what the cause of the wiper problem was.

i dont think your allowed to fix those things to your windscreen there, obstructive view

it's probably just a broken Fuse, check your fuse box.

Just sending a letter off to their H/O now.

Obviously it's no substitute for working wipers, and you shouldn't have to - but have you considered something like Rain-X that would repel the water?

( I know there are other/ probably better products too.)

It might be a help if you were eg. caught out by a sudden downpour on a motorway, as at least you can see something.

Rain-X also do a wiper additive - it does help a bit in retaining the water-repelling trick without needing to spend time applying it.

As I said earlier its not a fuse I've tried several

My mk2 octy had this issue, i removed the majority of the end dash panel fuses and re sat them and i've npt had a problem since. Mine wouldn't work from getting in the car and starting it.

Hi Ben,

Great video...just make sure the dealer gets a look at it. Send them a link in an email. Ben, this is the sort of problem I used to see almost every week in the workshop on one vehicle or another. Make of car didn't matter. But it's easily solvable by your dealer. Just request a loan car whilst you leave it with them. I would go as far as insisting you get a loan car right away. That's not unreasonable, especially as you have ordered yet another new car from them also. You shouldn't be driving a car with a fault like that...it's illegal as you probably know.

Had a call from the dealer today to request i take the car in straight away. Just dropped it off and they've just literally pulled a car out of the showroom and taxed it for me while mine is being fixed. Skoda Fabia Scout for the next week or so.

Not to bad then really.

Its a real shame youre having all this bother with your car , as it looks really good , love the interior/dash as well , it makes my Mk1 look ancient....but then in car terms I suppose it is! Good luck with it , enjoy the Scout and hope yours gets sorted soon.

I'm at a loss to what exactly is the point of the scout. What market are they aiming it at? It's hardly a pretty thing so its not aimed at the beauty end of the market is it designed to go off road? One thing i am loving is the estate, almost wish i'd brought one now.

If they'd have managed to shoehorn 4WD in there it would have been a cracker.

Good that they are taking it seriously

It's a shame you have had a couple of issues with the car, it really isn't normal for Skodas. I would not have come back for a 5th car if I had any doubts :)

Re- the Scout. I'm not sure what he point of it is either, it looks like it should be an off-roader, but it isn't. They seem to sell though, so I guess someone thinks it's an ideal look

I moved from the hatch to the estate, really pleased I did. The extra space is far more than you would think the short increase in length would give.

I wanted the estate but the mrs said NO and she rules the roost.

I like the Scout myself, if it wasnt so stupidly overpriced Id have one. For me, a Fabia 2 HAS to be an estate as I think they look sooo cool

SWMBO would be in a Scout today if it was 4WD.

FWIW I had a similar wiper issue on a 55 plate BMW 1 series I had. Traded it in before I ever got it looked at.

I guess the anticipated appeal of the Scout is the urban chunky image rather than off road ability (probably picking up on the success of so-called soft-roaders/crossovers).

i didn't especially like the look of the Scout but saw a new white one in the street the other day and it looked really good to me!

Incidentally, does anyone know why the petrol option is only the 85 bhp TSI and not the 105 too?
