Have you given up on the rejection option?

Sounds like things are afoot Ben. I reckon you will have it back fixed in no time at all. If it is fixed ok, then I would be inclind to stick with it (unless you change your mind and want a diesel:giggle:!!). And yes, the 1.4TDI engine is superb, if not a little noisey at tickover when new. Try driving one when it's done a few thousand miles, it's about 10%-12% more powerful and much more economical. One other bonus...they get a lot quieter too!

Good luck Ben and please do keep us all posted as to how you are getting on with your problems.

Well the car came back today, apparently there was major damage to the wiring loom (that was causing a number of the issues). Its now been replaced (damaged part) and so far its been fine. Touch wood everything is still working tomorrow morning. Yeh i did quite like the 1.4 but it was far to noisey for my liking. I cant get over the difference in the clutch between the 1.4pre fl and my tsi. The tsi feels much more firm on the pedal. As fopr the mpg on the 1.4 i was quite impressed. I did a 100 odd miles in it on Friday and it returned about 55mpg (the car was dropped off at mine with 5 on the clock).

Thats good news, hopefully that is the end of it and you can get back to enjoying the car! Interesting that it was a build fault that got through inspection and pdi. Mine was the same, wonder if they are banging them out too quickly.

Very glad you got it sorted and hopefully you`ll now be able to just go and enjoy it
