Why not to drive your Skoda Fabia FL 1.2tsi in the rain !

Featured Replies

I'm at a loss to what exactly is the point of the scout.

I don't know either - but a Scout courtesy car gave me a chance to try out the 1.2tsi engine way before it appeared in the Fabia and it consequently rekindled my interest in the Mk2.

I think the point of the scout is that when you drop the kids off at school you can park "Next " to the grass verge as opposed to "On the grass verge "

HTH...... :giggle:

I rang SUK in the end. Is this the start of a major issue with the fl fabia or are we both just unlucky !! Err they got the part within 2 days and fitted in the same time frame.

one thing to say. The car didn't show up any faults even when the wipers weren't working. I would say the best advice i had was to video the problem, that way i could show them the issue with it.

cheers fella

Sorry to hear your still having problems Ben. I think this has been ongoing since you got it...Just hope that this solves it but at least the dealer seems to be helping, although one does wonder if it was your video that did it.... Please keep us posted

Well mine was working fine for 24 hours now stuff has started to pack up again. The dealer MD is calling me tomorrow and we WILL be discussing replacing this car.

Not good

I have to agree there, if the fault is recurring like that then it's time to talk rejection and getting a replacement car.

Im wondering how easy it is to switch the PCP etc but im guessing the garage will have come across this before. At the moment i'll take a replacement or a refund (i'd then order another).

What the dealer would probably have to do is to settle your current finance for you (effectively buying your car back) then set up a new PCP on a new car.

They might have the ability to simply cancel the finance, but how they do it isn't your problem. If you are rejecting, tell the finance company that you are doing so, they can also put pressure on the dealer. Then you must stop using the vehicle until it is resolved.

Good luck :)

not filling me with confidence for when i take mine in this afternoon

Are you sure it is a FL problem? Wiper looks the same as my pre FL model, also surprised that software is involved in the repair. One thing I have noticed on my FL is the mass of VW labelling on the car, engine cable looms etc, last car didnt have that. Hope VW reliability has not crept in with the FL!

Well the MD of the dealership was useless refusing to replace the car. Ive just spoken to trading standards and they've advised me to contact the finance company. I'm still in the process of drafting a letter to SUK. Anyone else got any ideas who to shoot a letter off to get some publicity for this? I'm debating it to simply get some stickers made for my car and park it outside the dealer expressing my dissatisfaction for the car.

Well from your other posts we all know who the dealer is!

Good luck with trading standards.

Send letter stating formal rejection of the car and the reasons to the Dealership. Your contract is with the dealer, SUK will refer you back to them, so pursue the dealer to resolve the issue.

Send copies of that letter to SUK and the finance company if they want it.

Do not use the car at all anymore - state this in the letter. Also state that you are claiming a replacement vehicle or a full refund according to your rights under the Sale Of Goods Act. Give them 7 - 14 days to decide what they want to do.

That should light a fire under the dealer

Trading Standards will keep you right too, you've a strong case. My sister had to go through this recently, if you want a draft of the letter she sent, PM me.

It is a shame you have to go down this route for such a relatively minor but very dangerous And annoying fault.

Another option you may want to pursue is getting SUK to arrange someone else to fix it. Sounds as though the service dept in your dealer is not very good.

That would be great please, i'll PM you my email addy.

Trading Standards have advised me to go through the finance company as they are liable under the supply of goods act 1973 rather than using the sale of goods act. However i cant see any issue with chasing both parties.
