Affordable SAT NAV

Featured Replies

I was gonna say I have a cheap Sat Nav system, its the road map that sits behind the passenger seat. ;)

I've heard too many stories about Sat Navs leading people in funny directions, usually on their way to Briskoda meets and trackdays.

dont know about these two systems - I use Garmin streetpilot 3 which is purely sat nav,not pda based.

One thing that is worth looking at is what maps are with it/available - do you intend using it in other countries?

When I was looking around, some systems only really covered uk and they wanted another

Yep, I have the Aldo one in which the Navigational Software for our town dates from 1995! Turn Right here. No I don't think going down the pedestrian precient would be popular even if it is the quickest way!

:D its amazing how many drivers i have to avoid on the road as they mapread while driving :( saw one last week who decided it would be safer to slow down and stay in the left lane while reading but while looking down he wandered across the lanes and was heading for the armaco till someone woke him up

sat nav is not perfect.....i have been told to go down farmtracks before but generally they are useful to have -I have used mine a lot during 1 year / 50,000 miles both here and france.

The Palm Zire should be fine mate...

I was going to go down that route but the Zire isn't as powerful as my current Palm, so I've gone the more expensive route of getting a Palm Tungsten T3 and TomTom...

IIRC, the Palm comes with Kirrio/Mapsonic/ViaMichelin navigation software which is meant to be pretty good.
