Any known problems with the CR TDI vRS?

Featured Replies

As above has the CR proven itself by now?

Anything rearing its ugly head?

My only problems are that it's hard to stop driving the thing and it's difficult to convince passengers that it's actually a diesel.

My 09 with 35k Km has just had the throttle valve done under warranty (dealer said they had done a few, replaced with a modified unit) but apart from that its great

One or two are reporting engine hesitation problems . Seems quite isolated. Mine being one.

What about DPF?

What about DPF?

No problems with my DPF yet 10K on the clock.

Toooooooooooooooo many blue ones :giggle:

What about DPF?

DPF is a problem full stop, whatever manufacturer it is but typicaly only if you do lots of short journeys and ignore the regen symbol...

Don't forget, the CR engine, although relatively new to Skoda has been about for longer in other marques in the VAG range...

Do you know try as I might I'm yet to see a Blue VRS, and to be fair I've only seen 1 red and 2 white FL's since I ordered mine 2 weeks ago!

whereabouts did you see the white ones? i've only seen 1 other FL vRS in brum since I got mine and it's a black estate up the road from where I live.

so one of the white one's could have been me. :smirk:

If you really cant get to see one come down here & race up & down the M3 at therers a good chance one will find you :giggle:

One was in Coventry by Tile Hill, the other was on the Stratford Rd in Sparkhill.

Come to my office, there's 2 FL Race Blue and a pre-FL Race blue vRS' in the car park at this moment in time :D

Did i read this correct that there is a DPF regen warning light ?

If so brilliant, my fiat doesnt have this so I never know when the DPF regen is active.

just had the throttle valve done

Ha! Had exactly the same comment yesterday - a work colleague said "this is so much better then a diesel". I debated for a few mins whether to make him look foolish or not in front of other colleagues. So I did :giggle:

Almost 60k kms on mine now. Had the DMF replaced and the G450 pressure sensor replaced, remapped with 15k kms on it. The only regen light I've had was wecause of the faulty G450 sensor.

can't you hear a change in engine note, notice the massive dip in mpg and smell it when you get out of the car - I can on my Alfa

DPFs - bl**dy environmentalists - just think of all the energy wasted during a regen. As an example on Wednesday driving to work on my average mpg (for the tank of fuel) was 41.7 - regen started and by the time it had stopped my average mpg ws down to 40.2!

Maybe I should go back to petrol...............

Problems wise, there was a thread or 2 a wee while back about negative-G forces triggering hesitation. Go over a sharp rise and throttle takes a second to come back.

Is this strictly because of short journeys or

is it because of keeping the Rev's too low on these journeys?

The what?

HAHA the bit that the throttle pedal controls on the front of the engine right in the middle, throttle body maybe??

Dunno which bit you mean? :giggle: Sounds like you're looking at the EGR valve? The throttle pedal just tells the ECU how much fuel to inject.

Not specifically CR based. But just had ABS unit replaced after 16K miles

Suppose i will have to take a picture then, deffinately a throttle something (dont have the printout anymore) as this was the error on the dealer diagnostics, also the car drove like it was about to run out of diesel

A diesel doesn't have a throttle as it always runs with an excess of air, and so the acceleration is controlled by the injected fuel quantity.

The butterfly you're looking at is probably below the EGR and is the anti shudder valve.
