Any known problems with the CR TDI vRS?

Featured Replies

I'm looking at removing my egr valve with a delete kit

A diesel doesn't have a throttle as it always runs with an excess of air, and so the acceleration is controlled by the injected fuel quantity.

The butterfly you're looking at is probably below the EGR and is the anti shudder valve.

Just had mine replaced on my 09 Vrs LE and was told it was a throttle potentiometer. Also had an exhaust sensor replaced which was triggering the DPF warning light on the dash.

Apparently there were no potentiometer replacements in the country and had to wait 7 days to get the car back. However i had a loan Toyota Avensis diesel whilst my car was off the road and when i picked up my VRs and drove out of the garage carpark PHWOOOOOAAAAARRRRR!

Wouldn't have any thing else for the money!

PS I too have the strange occurrence if i am travelling over a sharp hill or humpback bridge, as you reach the crest it's like somebody has turned the ignition off for a split second. Just presumed this was some sort of exhaust or engine brake.

Your last comment about loosing power . You are not alone. Mine does ths same.

Skoda deny any knowledge of this problem bit I know they do know all about it . They just don't know how to fix it. Or can't be bothered.

Yep I too have the same problem with losing power when you go over the crest of a hill, its almost like the car thinks crikey sharp hill better not let him have any throttle here or like it a applies a dab of brakes for a split second.

When the car went in for its first service I asked for the car road testing to see if they noticed it but they came back and said it didnt do it. Low and behold the first hill crest I came to after the service the same problem.

Hopefully there will be some resolve to this as it annoys the crap out of me!

I have spoken to the dealer and Skoda UK . Because the Car is not registering a fault ie : Fault code or light on dash they will not put any time into diagnosing the problem.

One dealer tried to charge me for diagnosis when no fault could be found (Car is 6 months old).

Suffice to say I told him what to do with his charge

well, my cr dsg skodillac now has about 72k kms on the clock. I've had 3 minor problems with the car out of which 1 was engine related. Egr valve got frozen whilst driving during a really cold day (think -30C). This was fixed by software udate which keeps egr slightly more open during cold.

2nd prob was thar during cold nights when car is left outside, brakes freeze over and for first 10-20 seconds you don't have any kind of power assist on the brakes.. can tell you the pedal gets really stiff!! they changed some tubing and did various other trickery but nobody knows wether it's fixed or not, cause "winter stopped" before it repeated.. so it's either fixed or waiting for new extreme winter!

3rd prob was factory wheel alignment.. the rear tyres have so much camber (I think, anyway upper part of tyre tilted inwards) that it eats rubber like crazy. ruined my first set of rear wheels.. this has since been fixed.

despite these niggles, I like the car. only things to fault is excessive tyre noise and dsg being overly economical.. (read too low revs for normal traffic, makes car feel less dynamic)

just my 2c,

//Juha
