What do you hate about your Octy?

Featured Replies

What do you hate about your Octy? - I hate the way that water runs into the boot no matter how careful I am, my vRS is far worse in this respect than my previous Octry - must be something to do with having a boot spoiler or being Highly polished. With the old Octy I could raise the tailgate about 6 inches for a couple of minutes and the water would run off into the channels allowing me to lift the tailgate fully, now when I do that I get a further Niagara falls into the boot GRRRRRRRRRR!! Might also be something to do with the fact that the car is normally parked facing downhill most times!

cannot say there's anything i'd say I hate about mine - dont have the water problems as its an estate :)

attitudes of some others drivers is bad but normally sorted out :D

couple of minor irritations-dash layout poor with clima controls far too low and light switch is poorly thought out - crazy having to out front on before the (single :( ) rear fog but thats only when using them against a duckhead behing me with his fogs on :finger:

So basically , for the money its a very good car - lets face it i got mine for

The water is collecting in the gap between the bottom of the glass & the boot lid. One cure is to fill this with clear silicone sealer but unless your a dab hand with the sealer gun it will loook :thumbdwn: A tidier & less permanent way is to get a small round rubber extrusion & push this into the gap with a screwdriver CAREFULLY so as not to scratch anything, a squirt of silicone spray or washing up liquid will help it go in, trawl through the Yellow pages & you are bound to find someone who does Rubber Extrusions, then just pop down & try a few for fit.If you have to stretch it to get it in leave it slightly long for a few days before trimming it off in case it shrinks back

Oh & only one niggle, its a pig to demist, Wendys Diesel is even worse. Also the controls for the heater arent exactly user friendly but Ok once youve sussed them

I'm with Marc on the light switch.

When Mr Chav ****** comes up behind you with his fogs blazing you can only get him back by annoying the driver in front.

The lack of power, knew I should have got a turbo :(

;)

thats got me thinking now...how easy is it to remove the swich, then reverse the connection positions so the rear comes on first? :D

Generally happy with my vRS, yes water does run off into the boot and the climate controls are very low down. My main gripe is the rear visability is attrocious, but when ever I put my foot down all the little niggles go away :)

Another vote for the "water in boot" problem.

Rear visibility isn't great but thats no worse than other cars of the same size and shape so I can't say it bugs me.

Other than that there is nothing that I'd want to change

Forgot to say I hate the seatbelt warning bong.

Does my nut in that one.

the lack of room between the clutch and the foot rest.... when i have my boots on or wider shoes... i have to rest it lightly on the clutch...as is a fiddle to get down the side...

Joel

the fact they put a 1.8T in instead of the nice 2.7TT they could have shoehorned in from t S4, that would have been lots more fun :)

other than that the only thing that actaully annoys me slightly is the fact the rear map lights only come on if you turn them on, they shouldcome on when you open the rear door . would quite like door lights in the rear doors aswell as the front doors too(i don't remember it having them anyway)

Don't find this an issue with the Octy but it is in the Furby.

I have size 11 feet and wear big socks.

I've got feet as wide as Seal flippers and don't find this a problem......................do however get annoyred with lefthanded drifting

I find the water thing a pain and it takes ages to de-mist- but all in all the car is fantatsic especially when it upsets 330ci beamers who think they ar the dogs *******s.

the fact they put a 1.8T in instead of the nice 2.7TT

Why???? As the 2.7 is not as tunable as the 1.8t and weighs a ton. My mate who has a 225TT tuned to 260 is happy he got his 225 after hearing that. Although the engine noise is always a plus on the 2.7 :D

Oh and back on topic yes that water thing does annoy the crap outta me

And the front skirt being to low :D

have you got the whiskers and the big black eyes to go with the flippers?

Another vote for water in the boot!

Also the 'Octavia' badge on the dash looks so cheap and tacky

Im in the "water in boot" camp and the ventallation is **** poor expecialy at demisting.

Apart form that

OH the standard stereo and speakers are pants

I find that my heel catches on the footrest.

And the water in the boot is a pain.

And trying to keep the carpets clean.

And only having 871 miles on the clock so I can't boot it properly yet :D:D:D

Another trip to the outlaws in Inverness is scheduled for New Years Day

Should reach the 1000 mile mark at around Aviemore northbound :drive: :revs:

I have the same annoying small gap between clutch and the footrest too... normally have to lay my foot flat on the floor (just like the throttle foot then. :D)

Also have the same fog light issue too :(

mine has to be the white carpets in the RS.... 1 question, Why???

Have had two tavias, both pulled to the left,

other than that all aok ;)

White carpets and seat / door inserts do my napper in especially when kids are involved. The cc controls are too far down and the buttons too fiddly. Also the tendancy for the front screen to take ages to de-mist properly - sometimes.

The noise the retractable load cover makes grates my head aswell.

Apart from that I think it's great.

Also the 'Octavia' badge on the dash looks so cheap and tacky

Agreed, that whole area looks naff, the buttons above the HU are uneven,

what the should have done is moved the CC controls higher to where the second DIN slot it and moved to pocket to where the CC controls are

We should send this thread to skoda

Joel

have you got the whiskers and the big black eyes to go with the flippers?

Nope, but I have cravings for fish and keep flapping my hands together

Another vote for Octavia badge, and also demisting, that is terrible! A few times i have actually had to stop once i have got going to let it clear, it seems to get worse before getting better! Other than that i love my VRS.
