What tyres for the Fabia vRS?

Featured Replies

sorry if this is already on the site, tried hunting but no joy. What have people found good for tyres? I'm looking for (in this order) 1. not too noisy 2. wears well (I don't go mad) 3. cost

Any suggestions gratefully received

Cheers

Hello and Welcome to Briskoda

Use this to find the answer. link

I reccomend Marangoni Zeta Linea's, my old set lasted 14k and offered brilliant grip! They aren't a well known brand and would be considered cheap but i've had them before which is why i chose them for the Fabia, i did have them front and back but my garage can't supply them anymore so have hankooks on the now and hate them! They allow the car to spin far too much even with the traction control on whereas the Marangoni's gripped and put the power down brilliantly

I like Uniroyal Rainsport 2's and Avon ZZ3's

Goodyear eagle f1's and toyo t1rs are also good but dont last

I use Yokohama Parada's - I used to always swear by Toyo Proxes, but these are just as good IMHO they grip really well, you get a bit more life out of them than the Toyos and there slightly cheaper! A good all round mid-high spec tyre.

Michelin Pilot Exalto's or Pirrelli P Zero Nero's.

shivers.....expensive ditch finders IMO...each to their own though.

Thanks all for the advice. Did a bit more work online and going for the Uniroyal Rainsport 2's.£80 a corner fitted from a local dealer via MyTyre.co.uk

which I didn't think was too bad. They sound good in the wet and as I do 60 miles a day mainly on motorway and country roads, gotta be worth a go. Just hope MyTyre is a real company!

You can't have looked very hard ;) - there's loads of threads on this. From what I recall popular ones are Uniroyal Rainsport 2, Toyo Proxes T1-R and Goodyear Eagle.

FWIW I've got Toyo's and have been very pleased with them.

PZeros are normally similar price to toyo's. Ok may not have the same outright grip but come 6k miles when the toyo's are shot the P Zero's carry on till about 15k. But like you say each to their own. :)

cant argue, toyos don't last two minutes, the Yokohamas are better IMO, I had PZero's before and we didnt get on and they were scary in the wet!

I guess you used my link (The search button) and found what you want. It is a very common subject for people on this section, I still think there should be a sticky or a definitive guide.

If it is Mytyres.co.uk you have used, they are a real company and many people on here have used them. Mytyres along with Camskill, Blackcircles and event-tyres are recommended.

They are just poor mans GSD1s - tried a set and the grip levels didnt compare...

I did, thanks again

The Toyos are the factory standard fit tyre for the Atom - so they can't be too bad...

Factory standard just means that the manufacture did a deal with the tyre company

I had Goodyear GSD3's which were OK but did tramline a lot on bad roads. Also didn't last that long plus I don't like tread that only goes one way (Directional or rotational?). I've gone for Michelin Pilots Assymetric as initially I thought they were out of my price range. I did want Vredesteins but was told they are an overated budget tyre and where the same money as the Michelins. They've been on for 5k so far and have been good. Plenty of grip in the dry and pretty good in the wet as far as I can tell. I never push hard when it's wet, had a few scares in my younger days in the rain.

This is the tyre I went for, similar price fiited at a local garage via Blackcircle. My journeys are as yours too.

so this means they would put poor tyres on a really good car? There highly rated by a lot of people.

They are not "poor" tyres - I just personally found them to not be as grippy in the wet and dry as the superior GSD1s

This is my personal experience on the Fabia.
