What tyres for the Fabia vRS?

Featured Replies

They are not "poor" tyres - I just personally found them to not be as grippy in the wet and dry as the superior GSD1s

This is my personal experience on the Fabia.

Fair enough, I havent tried the GSD1's but I have tried the GSD3's and I didnt really rate them at all, but again a lot of people swear by them.

I put 4 Rainsport 2 on SWIMBO'S vRS in January & they TRANSFORMED the ride, noise & grip like you wouldn't beleive. After 7,000 miles of mixed driving, wear is OK but not quite as good as the Conti's that came off. Wouldn't want to put anything else on my Furbie

Excellent, mine being fitted next weekend

Running mine on Kumho KU13's - good grip and hardly any road noise which is gr8.

lol I ment GSD3s my bad :D

CONTI'S CONTACT SPORT 2 ALROUND FOR ME!

Factory standard just means that the manufacture did a deal with the tyre company

No - Ariel is a much more personal company than that - I rang up, spoke to Steve and he advised that's what they would recommend for my car...

My car came with GSD2 all round (had 37K). 1 got a puncture and another was replaced, so got GSD3. When the rear GSD2s wore out, I replaced them with Toyos, in Feb 09. I can't fault both of them in the wet or dry. I think the Goodyears (both GSD2 & GSD3s) are better in deep standing water, and the T1-R seam to cope with colder weather better, (being softer). Both were useless in last winters snow.

My Toyos are getting low, I don't know whether to replace them with the same or try these Rainsport 2s as everyone seams to go on about them. The Uniroyals came 2nd in the latest Evo tyre test Tyrereviews - 2010 EVO Tyre test However some of the major companies did not submit tyres for testing, (Goodyear, Pirelli, Dunlop, Toyo, etc)

my new favorites are avon zz3's

better than toyo's, eagle f'1's the lot

my two top tires are the avon zz3's and uniroyal rainsport 2's

Interesting tyre comparison test in today's Autocar...

In the Golf test the Vredestein Ultrac Cento came out top

In the Mercedes test the Continental SportContact 3 came out top

The Pirelli P Zero was thrown out owing to inconsistency...

pffff what do they know! ;):giggle: :giggle:

I've just replaced 2 front Uniroyal RainSport 2s with another pair after 22k. The rear Bridgestones lasted 44k and were replaced with Uniroyals at the same time. Pricey month!

Not as pricey as the GSD3s I put on my work tank - £150 a corner for 225/55/17s!

I've just replaced the front tyres on my vRS SE it had Uniroyal Rainsport 2s fitted they seemed good tyres no complaints from me not sure what milage they had done as thats what was on when I bought the car second hand but they have done atleast 15,000.

Fitted it with Avon ZZ3 as there cheaper than the uniroyal or Michelins that come out on top of the reviews and feedbacks I've read on the internet and I only intend to keep the car for another 9 months or so.

It appears to still have the original contentials on the rear done just over 40,000 miles.

This is the tyre I went for, similar price fiited at a local garage via Blackcircle. My journeys are as yours too.

you're not following me are you.............?

Tyres delivered fine by MyTyres, picked a quiet time and was in and out of the tyre place in 20 mins. Very happy with the Uniroyals, not properly 'tested' yet but so far so good.

Spent 5 hours on Saturday washing/de-tarring/clay-ing, washing again/polishing/final wax. Knackered but the car looks superb. Expensive week, also had the cam belt and water pump changed.
