Air con / heater fault

Featured Replies

Hi

been driving arround and every so often the air con stops blowing cold air and starts to blow really hot air for a while then reverts to cold air again but not always.

It is booked in for a check, but the final straw was today when the car tried to 'ccok' me while in downtown Birmingham - rather than have nice air con cool, I had very warm air blasting out. Strangley though, the cool air still seemed to come out the glove box cooling port.

The fan speed also changed like it was trying to get to temperature, almost like it did not know what the temp was - could this be a sensor fault?

Also last night driving up the motorway had the same fault but despite being at a steady 70 mph for 2 hours no change, so i dont think it is exactly speed related.

Any ideas or experiences

Brian

I had a similar thing on a SAAB and this was due to a faulty rheostat in the back of the climate control unit, all SAAB did was raplace the control unit and never had the fualt again.

My Superb Estate is exhibiting this problem - very hot out of the drivers vents but cold out of the passengers. Been into the Skoda dealer three times now. The latest visit has been a complete change of control unit but at the loss of heated seats - glad it isn't winter - to see if this fixes problem. They haven't been able to find any lose or broken wires. Switching off/on solves the problem for a while but then its back again. If anybody has a solution I would like to hear it as my next step has to be up to Skoda Head Office on the basis of not fit-for-purpose as if there isn't a fault then it isn't covered by the warranty!

S spec doesn't have this problem since it has manual air con. Another thumbs up for cheap-skates like me!

I have the opposite with my car. The climate control is set to 22 passenger side 19 driver side and suddenly the car cools down for a while and then returns to set temperature. The dealer cannot find a fault anyone else had this?

Also had same erratic fault. Also wet carpets on passenger side.

All caused by a partially blocked aircon drain. Once straightened, problem was resolved.
