The Ultimate Compliment?

Featured Replies

I drive a silver Octavia VRS diesel estate with all the whistles and bells and I do look after it.

Anyway I had just finished my daily walk with the dogs and was in my local for a quick one and a guy approahes me at the bar and asks me what car I drive I tell him it's the silver Skoda estate and he replies "What the one by the front door, I thought that was a Merc."

Enough said!

Nice !!!

Which pub ???

Been a much bigger complement had it been said the other way round.

Could have been a potential suicide bid.

Beer goggles

You walked the dog to the pub in the Octy emoticon-0112-wondering.gifemoticon-0136-giggle.gif

Not just me that thinks the vRS Estate and Merc C class look very similar from behind

i think that is excellant for us Skoda owners.

Haha..... Cant wait for my week 35 build Merc looking Octy estate to arrive now...... :giggle:

I would have said cheeky tw*t. Merc's are overpriced overated pish.

Badge snobs paradise.

Skoda's are far superior to a lot (not all!) of the Mercedes range.

That's the result of assaulting too many sheep, it has affected his eyesight.

My elderly neighbour switches between my car being a Saab or a BMW whenever he has look whilst I'm washing it.

Not really a compliment but was in the pub couple of weeks back and was talking to a mate when we got on to cars with another group at the bar. My mate started telling them he had just ordered a 5 series BMW which then fired them off to take the Mickey about bmw drivers, Yuppy jokes, rip off cars etc.. (Which was quite funny) When they eventually found out I was about to order a Octavia vrs and currently drive a Fabia, I was expecting for some proper rubbings!! Except their response was just a simple " Nice cars them, and that Octty is mint looking car. I would have a skoda anyday of the week who want's to pay £££ for a badge" type comments.

I have found this to be the norm now when you tell people you drive a skoda!

Yup, I had a guy walk up to me in Tesco's car park as I was loading the boot up with goodies. He started complimenting the car saying he has seen them about and liked them and was thinking of changing his 3 series BMW for a VRS as his company car was up for renewal.

He couldn’t believe what was standard on the VRS…. But he is a current BMW owner so that would explain it... :giggle:

My neighbour just walks over, nods towards the car and says:

"Would you have another one ? "

...and then spends 10 mins telling me about his Toyota...this has happened 14 times !

Nice !!!

Which pub ???

and how much had he drunk?!

(joke :) )

i have had my vrs about 8 weeks now, a couple of weeks ago i was parked in b&q, and a guy who was walking past, said what a 'nice skoda car' i had. i did'nt know if he was taking the p**s or if he was being serious, turns out he was serious.

in the 25 years of cars i have had, this is the FIRST time somebody has commented on what a nice car i have......i have had a few comments in the canteen at work, skip with a engine etc, etc, but i always remember what the guy said in the carpark ! anyway i think some of my work collegues like the car, and would have one, but i think most of them aint got the 'bottle' to be seen driving one.........

I work with people who drive some very nice and expensive motors and not one of them has made a crack about the skoda. This is because they know their stuff and know what cracking cars skoda's are.

However I do have a mate who loves the octy vrs and has been out for a test drive but would not buy it because of the badge and feels he would never get over that!!

I have told a few people that i am buying a vRS and they are all dieing to see it when it arrives. All these guys drive Audi's n BMW's and their response has really surprisedme particularly the guy with an 2007 A4 S-line with same preformance etc as the vRS , i think the thing that swung him was the toys and price.

When I ordered my now '08 vrs I asked for it to be de-badged. The dealer got very very uppity with me. No names. I said "what's the problem, I don't want anyone who doesn't recognize it to know it is a VRS". He said "Sorry, I thought you meant the Skoda badges" so some Skoda dealers have a complex about it.

I went to the dealers seven times before I got over the badge I am in my forties and remember when Skoda deserved the tag. However it is now a different story to my mind. Skoda is one of the best brands out there. Unfortunately I think VAG will cut them loose as they are performing better than VAG premium brands like Volkswagen and if you drive an Audi as a company car you must start looking at what you are getting for the extra tax you are paying and in a word it is the badge.

When I bought my car the direct equivalent Audi was £17000 more are these people mad or so in love with the badge that they are prepared to pay the extra for that. If so the world has gone mad.
