Question for anyone who has fitted 18's.....

Featured Replies

A question or two for anyone who has fitted 18's to their Mk1 Fabia.

Did it rub or knock?..... If not then what was the actual full alloy wheel size (especially the ET)? ......What size tyres did you run?........What suspension were you running on? .......Any wheel arch modification needed?

I'm seriously considering going bigger but want to know what experiences people have had if any???

Not expecting a massive response to this as I don't think there are that many on here who have fitted this size wheel.............. :)

they are cr4p!!

used to rub off the inside and outside of the arches

rubbed on full lock!

tire noise was dreadful as a 215/35/18 is required IIRC

ride was pants as no tire sidewall was harsh and a back-breaker

I had the 18's on for 1 week

plus they make a fabia look like a roller skate

I actually don't think it is possible :)

If the wheels DID actually fit you would need 215/30 R19 tyres (does that size even exist?) which would still be 1.3% bigger rolling radius than 215/40 R17. As for size and offset I reckon you can't get 19s below 8J, offset would need to be around ET30 to 32 to avoid clashing on the inside against suspension.

i think he means he's considering going bigger than the 17's he's had?

Think he was talking about 18's

Think he was talking about 18's

Ah right. I know Dave ran the car with Audi A8 18" wheels, so thought perhaps he was contemplating bigger than that :D

18s are pretty bad ride I think, and in that performance car I think perfect size for performance is 16" :) I'd be running 16s if I hadn't got Brembos.

Thanks for the resposes gents. I was talking about 18's.

Didn't know shifty ran 18's!!! Not bothered about performance at present as I'm not tracking anytime soon (not that 16's would fit over the brakes anyway).

I'm looking at a set that measure 7.5J 18" 5x100 ET38. What do ya think?

The golf mk4 anni wheels fit fine. Bbs rc i think

They are 18" 7.5j iirc. There are pics on here i think, black fabia had them.

Post #93 page 5 on the alloy wheel thread :-)

IIRC they were 18" Audi A8 Reps as below

Best performance with the wheels that are fitted as standard?

Well that's no fun is it?

My ears were burning. You can go 19 x 7 if you really want! I ran 18 x 8 A8 reps for a while, and as others have said, the performance and handling suffers considerably. I tried a few combinations before settling for the 17 inchers you have currently.

Fookin hell Dave, back from the dead??? :giggle: :giggle: :giggle:

Didn't think you looked in on here any more. Hows life in Vancouver?....... More importantly, what are you driving these days?

ive got currently got 18's on mine 18x8 ET45 and its lowered on coilovers, tyre size u would need is 215/35/18, theres no rubbing on rear arches only sometimes on the front arch liners (plastics) but that depends how low u go on the fronts, mine are wound down all the way on the rear and half way on the front. ride quality is harsh and you loose performance, apart from that the car looks the part

Life is well, no vehicle yet. I am venturing to the even darker side of 2 wheels in the not too distant future :)

How is my old beast treating you?
