Braided stainless steel brake lines

Featured Replies

Hi there,

Can anyone tell me what is te part no. and the manufacturer for a complete set of braided stainless steel brake lines (front and back) for my Mk1 RS? Are the brake lines inter-changeable with the ones from the Audi TT 1.8T quattro 225?

Thank you

I have read on here somewhere that the vRS already has braided brake lines.

got my goodridge hoses from backdraft motorsport, they were std fit for mk4 golf,4 line set was £55+vat if i remember correctly! i dont recall if my car had braided lines on it as i did'nt swap the lines myself.

Unfortunately the RS doesn't have braided brake lines as standard.vrsmark, could you please tell me what is the part no. of the Goodridge braided brake lines that fited your car.I bought a set of Goodridge braided brake lines made for a Mk1 Leon, but they didn't fit, as they were too short (especially the rear ones). I don't want to buy another set that wouldn't fit.Thank you.

half right, the rear ones that go on the caliper are steel braided and covered in rubber.

rally design do all the parts to make the braided lines in kit form and would maybe be cheaper to do. the pipe itself is quite cheap it is the fittings that are expensive to buy

sorry devil 69 i've just noticed you're in bucharest, i'll give backdraft a ring tmrw to get a part number and i'll post it up mate.

Any news yet?

Thank you.

hi devil 69 ,this is the goodridge hoses part number for the hoses i got from backdraft motorsport, its kcb-6-131-4,they are £58.76p + postage which is £18 in the eu or £23 outside the eu (according to the bf goodridge website).hope this helps mate.

If you get them, please post what difference they make - would be interested :)

just a quick note to anyone looking at this thread,i just been on the uk mk4 golf forum and seen a few threads about goodridge changing the design of thier hoses.before you get some, let me do some more checks to make sure that they are the same as the ones i have.i dont want anyone to get the wrong ones, especially if you live overseas and pay an arm and a leg for shipping!!!!!!! goodridge will make custom hoses if you send your old ones in,but it takes a week or so.can you do without your car this long (+shipping)?no,me niether!! if you want to pm me about this matter feel free,i live very close to backdraft motorsport and could pick up the hoses and maybe get them shipped after offering them up to my car to ensure they fit.it may be monday or tuesday before i hear anything now though. the hoses are good though, they were a good improvement, even before i put the drilled discs and black diamond predator pads on,now the brakes are very strong and they bite straight away.

Thats the part number for TT225 hoses, Golf was a different number, when i got my Octy back in 2006 i asked about braided hoses but was told there were none available and other Golf 4 platforms wouldn't fit. Lets hope these do fit. would like to change mine.

Could anyone please tell what is the length of the rear brake hoses for Octavia RS mk1? I would like to make them custom and I need the length of the rear ones, as ETKA doesn't provide that information for them. Only for the 563mm front ones.

Thank you, guys!

I've found this site here:

http://www.brake-lin...rake-lines.html

As far as ETKA "says", LCR and Octavia RS mk1 share the same brake hoses.

Does anybody have a feedback on HEL?

Thank you.

I like that you can get them in different colours :)

Any news about the length of the rear brake hoses for Octavia RS mk1?

Thanks.

HEL brake lines are top stuff - if they are a good price go for it, however you can't cut and reuse fittings with them - they don't allow it for safety reasons (only sensible imho)

hel stuff goes on proper race bikes and is top notch stuff i have some and they are really good quality

Hello guys,

Today I put my car on an elevator and measured the length of the rear inner brake hoses.

So, for our Octavia Mk1 RS the length of the front/rear hoses is as follows:

- front 563mm

- rear 168mm.

I will order them from Hel (sounds nasty emoticon-0102-bigsmile.gif) as a special order (because they only have 467mm front hoses for our Mk1 RS instead of 563mm).

I will write some feedback afterwards.

Cheers!

Today I installed the hoses on the car. What a difference. The pedal feels firmer and it needs to be pressed with less pressure than before for a similar braking effect. The pedal travels less than before, only 3cm of pedal travel is enogh to send you through the windscreen. That spongy feel is gone now. Very pleased with them. They weren't a 100% fit, I'd say 99% because the nuts had to be 2mm grinded in 2 places on the lip in order to accept the old safety clip (that's what they told me at the garage). Anyway, the old OEM ATE hoses had a few surface cracks and you could see the internal braiding. I'm happy I changed them in time.
