Braided stainless steel brake lines

Featured Replies

I have custom made braided hoses from aerquip (same company as goodridge) as the octy onesthey make are non vRS. If you want some I can provide details of the shop I used that speced and supplied the hoses. It isindeed the fittings that are expensive so the rear hoses I have are rather long to replace the whole of the standard pipe that is a mixof metal and rubber.

The rear hoses are not braided, they are just rubber with some metal pipe sections, crimped together. One of mine had to be cut to be removed, there was no braided part under the rubber.

Don't know if HEL make lines for the octy but they do very good quality braided hoses, had some on a previous bike and they were superb.

Well... bugger.

I found out this week that braided brake lines are illegal on road cars in NZ!!

Apparently the braiding means that it's not possible to visually check if the inner pipe has split.

Surely if that had happened there would be a leak so you'd know?

Bloody NZ stupid modification laws.

Which pipes did you get?

HEL Off the shelf,

HEL Custom made or,

Goodridge hoses.

I bought Hel custom made ones with the measurements stated above.

If I remember, they cost about 50 something GBP including postage to Romania. They were quite cheap.

After almost 2 years of usage they hold up very good. No more spongy feel in the pedal.

Cheers!
