lets get a power table going

Sorry, need to get my rollers callibrated. Made them last night out of some baked bean cans and some pencils. The shatter proof ruler fell of mid-run so the torque was a little off.

lmao

FYI................ lb/ft is not a unit of torque!

Also, I think you can probably remove me from the list there (it was a hillarious joke). I don't know what my peak figures are.

A better thread would be "Octavia torque curves". Peak figures don't translate to how the car drives. Graphs FTW.

Now theres a thought!

Mines always really impressed me (standard map) it seems to hold over 90% of its torque all the way up to nearly 6000revs

Are you actually disagreeing with me?! Your links both confirmed that lb/ft is NOT a unit of torque!

The difference is subtle, but massive.

lbft (pound-foot) is a unit of torque, as is a Nm.

lb/ft (pound per foot) would be a spring rate for example, as is N/m.

Obviously in both cases we are discussing pound-force.

It's a little thing, and I obviously know that everyone means to say torque, but I couldn't help pointing it out! The anal engineer breaks out now and then.......... SI units are so much better!

http://www.mr2ownersclub.com/converter.htm

So this online converter, converts Nm to a spring rate?, I'm confused

Haha! They are using the wrong units too! MR2 owners......

Don't trust everything you see on the internet. This link gets it right: http://www.engineeringtoolbox.com/unit-converter-d_185.html

I can refer you to some good engineering books if you still need clarification.

It's pretty obvious if you think about what the units are saying. I work with springs every day, so I'm used to people getting confused between Nm and N/m. I've seen people try and convert a spring rate into a torque by mistake, and spend all day being confused by their weird answers!

I hope I don't come across as a d*ck, but you can't argue with physics!
