Are there any marks on the inside of the compressor housing?

Hey guys

*yes it could be somthing thats hit the turbo, however if it was somthing from the previous death it shouldnt matter, its been making strange noises for some time but I thought it was from all the boost leaks I had, so was only about 2 weeks since I had all the piping changed to stainless, but we did check the pipes and old intercooler for bits when we took it off.

*The housing isnt damaged to my knowlege, looked totally untouched.

* The Garrett has been on around 10 months.

*"ive no idea lol im sorry if im not making any sense or sounding stupid but you could have just been really unlucky and debris of some sort could have got into the blade from that open side? "

ahhh ok lol, thought you knew somthing I didn't, yes somthing could well have hit it, im just shocked I have nothing to show for it :(

Well just so ya know guys...you were right!!! Mark @ ITS turbos in Leeds called me today, said its more than likely the nut off the old turbo on the air inlet site thats damaged it, but the housing is fine, so its just a new core and a clean up, should have it back this afternoon :) cant complain £295 + vat for all work and part including pickin up and dropping off.

Glad you've at least got some more info on the failure anyway! No point in my mind just straight repairing it, with no confidence that it wouldn't just happen again...

Best of luck with it,

Steve.

Cheers, hopefully have it fitted back on by tonight :) Ill get some pics of the turbo before hand though, like a before and what it should actually look like....still no hybriddage though, really dont have the funds to do that at short notice.

I always thought that if the vanes were damaged it would make the bearing wear unevenly and cause damage in that regard, or will that all go replaced anyway?

Thats a very good price

Its always good to find out exactly what caused a component to fail.......and now you will be able to give it what for, safe in the knowledge its not overboosting ;)
