Curious observation

Featured Replies

:? I dont know if this is related to chipping or not.

When changing gears the engine will continue to rev for a fraction of a second after I take my foot off the accelerator.

It's not immediately noticeable and I was wondering if anyone else has noticed this :?:

What chip have you got

superchip,

I can see why they would want to do this, I'm curious if its a chip thing

or something else.

hmmm................. Not had much experience with superchips.

Some chips do have surging problems between 3 and 4000 rpm, just when your changing up under normal driving conditions, the turbo is spooling up to peek boost at this rpm, when the clutch is disengaged, this does not kill the boost dead, causing surging. Could this be your problem.

Thanks, I just want to make sure I dont have a problem.

I thought it might also be deliberate to make sure your in the power band after changing.

I'll try and pin down the exact rev range it occurs, I have only noticed it when changing up though.

Hiya ccrosb

yeah I noticed this if you really gun it thru the gears - short surge after you take the load off the engine. I'm running a completely standard engine and wondered if it was a bug in the standard ECU.

- not a problem, just makes you look a **** when driving with friends!!

Has the standard engine got a dump valve? albeit a quiet one ;)

Also does anyone know what the standard engine runs in terms of boost pressure?

Finally what is baddest-ass Skud out there? and more importantly can it kick Scooby butt!

Hi RS Russ, glad someone else has noticed this, I was thinking it was just me.

The RS engine has a dump valve, but like most new turbo cars it doesnt dump to atmosphere, it puts the excess air back in through the air filter, hence quiet. Most people recon it gets a bit louder if your car is running a higher boost pressure and/or a performance air filter.

standard pressure is 0.8bar I believe.

If you want my opinion all RS's kick Scooby butt. If you pass someone in a Scooby people just think your another boy racer. The Skud provokes a more interesting response..  :auto:

I quite like that number plate move on the pics above

anyone tried this??

Thanks for the pic :D

Think I may have a bash at this in the near future............
