powerflex dog bone mount bush!

Featured Replies

every time I read this thread I can't help laugh a bit. you'd think that for 2 pieces of rubber (or more if you decide to buy http://www.priracing.com/product.php/1471/304/vag---lower-engine-support-front-void-fill-bushes as well, i'd take less than 3 pages...

anyway...

would anybody be in a position to look at the Skoda Electronic catalogue and tell me the part number of the OEM rubbers (the black ones if you look at the Ottawa pictorial. I am going to follow Oet's recommendations and replace the front ones and add said Void fill bushes!

Many thanks

mountie66 to be fair to you what confused you(i think) is that yes there are 2 bushes front and rear to the Dogbone mount, but the rear comes in 2 parts(as a kit) so the pic OET posted displayed just the rear bush(2 parts) they are sandwiched between a metal plate and a nut holds them together, as shown in the pictorial threads attached.

That is what most folks replace, nothing else.

OET has also done the front of the Dogbone mount by using those inserts he posted. which is an added extra.

you may find that too severe if you have not changed the rear bush and exeprienced the difference it makes first hand.

so the rear one is the Powerlex kit pictured in the thread, which are the 2 yellow bigger blocks of poly, which are sandwiched between the dogbone and the frame. whereas the front (which is more to the back) could do with the void fillers (which are blue when buying superpro)

thanks for clarifying!

The front bush......is more to the front g-slave.....not more to the back

well i did mine today took me 20min to do and wow what difference!!!Has vibration at idle but who cvares I can spin wheels now with hopping??? Best £13 quid I have spent in years... And awsome shipped them really quick 1 day later great service...

Quoting above explanation:

"but the rear comes in 2 parts(as a kit) so the pic OET posted displayed just the rear bush(2 parts) they are sandwiched between a metal plate and a nut holds them together" That to me is the powerflex kit pictured in the pictoral. And is bolted to the engine's subframe, which is in front of the gearbox. So if you are talking about the rectangular bushes (2 of them), then they come up front. If you are talking about the cylindrical bushes (sold with washers) which are smalller and are fitted at gearbox level, then I would be tempted to say they are fitted at the rear

Are you facing the car or are you standing behind the car when you describe front and rear?

Page5, here I come

wanna try for page5?

simple it is attached to the gearbox in middle under car the side atached to the subframe has 2 bushes the side that is on geaerbox has a small round bush better to look at it and ya will see how it works....Almost at 5 pages all for 1 mouint??????????

Hi there , although SPF2576K does not fit into any instructions on that link or any steps, i think what Luca's point he was putting across is that the front bush is also the week point in the dogbone support. The pics and discussion is generally talking about the rear bush( 2 part kit) but some folks don't like changing that rear bush for poly ones for the point you are mentioning. ( too hard and lots of vibration in cabin, certainly in first few hundred miles) So if you renew the rear bush with OEM but add SPF2576K to the front part you get 17% better support over standard. Which will help your wheel hop.

@ Bowders1, I tried to look for the rear 2 rubbers; I went to a local Audi garage; for £46 they wanted to sell me the complete dogbone (ie rubber + forged item). Do you happen to know whether it is possible to only get the 2 one that go on the rear?

When looking at the car from the front, the first bush you come to is the round dog bone bush (the one pri sell an insert kit for) this is the front bush as its nearer the front of the car, the next bush you come to (further back) is the split 2 piece big yellow or blue bush which mounts to the subframe. This bush is behind the first bush so its the rear bush...

Have you looked at the setup from underneath to get an idea of how it works,it is a good idea, as you will see its not hard to get to. As said a vice makes it much easier to get the rear bush fitted.

Superpro vibrate less than powerflex, so i would try to match bushes from the same company if doing the front and rear bush

You could try VW or GSF or Euro car parts.

You don't need to buy the whole dogbone mount, you should be able to get just those replacement bushes

Yes correct.
