Orange - T-Mobile share mobile networks

Featured Replies

Not seen this mentioned elsewhere, and it does not seem to be to well publicised either so,

If you have a T-Mobile phone, its possible to now use the Orange network if you have no T-Mobile reception.

If you have an Orange phone with no reception, you can now use the T-Mobile network.

Call charges etc. are the same as normal regardless of the network you are connected to.

To register, use one of the links below depending on your current provider.

Bung in your mobile number and thats it, my t-mobile handset now works on both t-mobile and orange.

2G only though

at least you can make and receive calls and texts which is better than nothing at all.

Oh yes

Just wanted to add it before anyone thought their mobile data package would work cross network

3G is on the way. One step at a time. Since I've done this I've not been out of range of a useable signal! It's about time the networks started working together to make our lives a little better.

I signed up on Orange yesterday, and today in London it was quite handy as I had no Orange signal and needed to make a call.

Looked down a minute later and my phone put me automatically on to T-mobile, so I was able to make my call!

They are changing their name to Everything Everywhere

They are changing their name to Everything Everywhere

Given that my past experience of T-Mobile was 'nothing everywhere' I am concerned they might be pushing it a bit.

That's annoying, can't they calm themselves Salmon after all that's the sort of colour you get mixing pink and orange.

Seriously though, that's an awful name.

'nothing everywhere'

That's a little unfair, 3 is more "nothing if you can see a field..." emoticon-0144-nod.gif

My experience of 3 was "Everything in India".

They all ship customer support to India :dull:

The parent company has that name, but T-Mobile and Orange will still stay as separate entities. T-Mobile will market to Domestic users, Orange to business. Expect the network to change as duplicate base stations are removed.

Or that was the latest as of 3 months ago, when I was working at T-Mobile HQ.

Whoop.. mobile reception in my house for the first time since i moved in!

Note for all blackberry owners

BES Access = Orange

No B.E.S. = Orange/T-Mobile :S (which means no BBM)

No Loss they are building an Orange transmitter behind our house (i got the same a 'apinner')

By this time next year, there should be only one band.

This will mean new SIMs, which begs the question what will happen to phone network locks? Will they be lifted, or recoded OTA?

From what I understand of networks, Vodafone and O2 are GSM900, whereas Orange and T-Mobile and 3 are GSM1800. These are 2 totally different bands and unless O2 and Vodafone switch there will still be 2 bands.

Sorry, by band I was meaning orange and t-mobiles separate networks being amalgamated.

Cheers for the heads up. Works on the personal Blackberry, but did not like my company ( orange ) number.

business customers need to contact their contract manager to arrange cross network use.

Thought as much , cheers.

I am a business customer and did it from my phone OK. I got a text on my way to Haverford West yesterday which congratulating me for connecting en route, to the T-Mobile network. I will have to take their word for it as I was drving at the time :D

My Business orange number came back with a message along the lines of - you have a service on this number stopping the transfer of service.

Personal one worked ok.

You might have single number, or mobile extensions (mobex). both of these are network tied and dont function when roaming on other networks.
