Best factory fitted accessories for Octavia Manual CR TDi vRS Estate

Featured Replies

First post so be gentle emoticon-0136-giggle.gif

At the weekend I order an Octavia 2.0 CR TDi vRS estate (manual gearbox). I've currently added metallic paint (obviously) and acoustic rear parking sensors, but are there some extras I should be looking at adding?

I've got a dog (hence the estate) so was looking at adding the rear bumper protective film (http://www.accessories.skoda.co.uk/productdetail.aspx?p_no=1Z9071133) to stop the dog scratching the bumper getting in and out of the car.

I was a bit peeved to find out that the MFSW is only on the DSG gearbox - seems a bit of a stupid decision by Skoda?

What do people recommend adding? Seems sensible to add it now and get the accessories VAT free!

Thanks in advance!

Well I went for errr, pretty much the lot :giggle:

Realistically Maxidot is a really useful tool to have and I think Xenons are a must too. Other than that the rest are just luxuries, but heated seats are a good one for the up and coming winter :D

I would strongly recommend adding a spare wheel...

There are different MFSW - some have the flappy paddle things for the DSG box which would clearly be pointless on the manual but there is also the 4 spoke MFSW with maxidot and no paddles - don't see any reason why you can't have that.

It comes in 2 versions - with and without phone. I have the latter on mine (but admittedly mine is a DSG)

Def push for a spare wheel< also maxidot is a must to get the most out of the toys. Otherwise front mudflaps and get Ventureshield fitted to the front and rear to protect from chips.

Sorry, must have missed that one in the original post, I have ordered a spare wheel.

Puncture repairs kits all good and well, but doesn't help with a blow out!

Hmm. When I spoke to Skoda they told me that for the vRS there was only one and it could only be fitted if you had the DSG gearbox. Might give them another call...

This is going to be a stupid question, but what exactly is Maxidot and what does it do?

Also, what is Ventureshield?

Maxidot, otherwise referred to as MFD (Multi function display) allows you to adjust some of the simple settings on your car i.e. locking settings, lightings settings, some simple vehicle settings which would otherwise only be available through diagnostics at teh dealers.

It also looks soooo much better and upmarket that the standard 80's style LCD display :giggle:

I would suggest:Auto dimming rear view mirror with light assistant and rain sensor at £150 ""

I specced heated seats and am glad I did (especially this morning!). Also depending on what colour you've ordered silver roof rails might look good - I have Anthracite and they set it off great.

Bob.

Your dealer is correct. For some unknown reason (probably the stupidity of the Skoda UK marketing department) you can't order the multi function steering wheel on a manual vRS like you can on other models in the range...

Wanders off shaking his head in disbelief....

Factory fit, I have everything apart from:

- columbus - just too much money IMO @ 1500 quid

- metallic - flat white looks great IMO and saves 400 quid

- front parking bleepers - just not needed, rears essential on the estate

- sunroof - 600 quid too steep for a hole in the roof.

All the others are great and i'm glad i spec'd them.

Also, added from the accessories catalogue (dealer fit) the eibach springs.

If I was ordering the car today knowing what i know now, i'd have exactly the same PLUS the kenwood nav system (900-ish quid) and the rear window blinds (about 80 quid) both from the accessory catalogue.

HTH.

Just buy/add what you feel you will benefit from. I went for stuff like Xenons as I had them previously and wouldnt be without them now.

I added cruise and left it too late for Maxidot.

After three years the only thing I wish I'd added (and I don't think it was available at the time anyway) was full leather.

There is also a 3 spoke mfsw that can be fitted, but it's not a vRS wheel, e.g. doesn't have the perforated leather or the vRS badge.

It is the same diameter, but it's retrofit only though as is bluetooth on a manual.

Have to wonder what Skoda UK were thinking when they decided UK drivers would only want bluetooth if the drove a dsg

For factory options, the sunset glass looks good on the estate and heated leather seats are also worth having (I find the leather seats more comfortable then the fabric seats, though the seat design looks identical).

Thanks all. Just phoned up the dealer to add the Maxidot but have been told the order went through yesterday and so it's too late to add it. emoticon-0106-crying.gif Gutted!

One question I do have is does the vRS come with automatic headlights (i.e. when it gets dark) as standard or is this an optional extra (light assist?)? The guy at the dealership wasn't sure when I phoned him!

If the order went through yesterday its not to late to add it, I feel the dealers being lazy ! Many including myself have varied orders many days after it went through & the only thing it may effect is the build date but yours wont have been assigned yet anyway.

Worth giving the dealer another call

Auto headlights is an option, Comes with auto-dimming interior mirror as a package for £150 IIRC.

Your dealer is just lazy, If itsonly been in a day an no build week assigned then you should be able to add a few things. Threaten to cancel the order unless they make the effort!

Most def a lazy dealer.

I added Maxidot, Auto lights, and rear parking sensors to mine 5 days before it was built after having second thoughts.

Wish I had added xenons - at VAT free price a bargain!

Heated seats are nice but be aware very heavy so performance will be lost. Had this same problem in a focus I had.

As for sat nav dont get the columbus or the Kenwood - just look on the net and you can get a retrofir columbus for about 500 fitted and coded or 750 for columbus + fiscon

If you get Leather - Get Heated Leather. If you stay standard seats they don't really need heating.

For the dog, use a foldable boot protector. It has a flap that goes over the bumper

Uses hooks and elastics to attach to rings in the boot.

Can also be used on rear seat and attaches to back of front seats.

You will need to translate from Czech.

Part No DMA629001 for combi. Ordered from dealer

I can not see the heated seats being that heavy (only a simple heated mat in each seat). There may be a little electronics to go with it but not going to add many kgs and certainly not enough to affect performance. If this is the case my VRS must be slower than most since I wiegh 100kg which is probably above average!!! I would have thought the difference between a full and empty fuel tank would have more of an impact and I do not really notice that in the real world.
