Just the unlocking!

ASR is a safety thing so that can't be disabled

Windows would require a seperate after market controller!

As Mike said /\ /\

The windows thing is available on higher spec cars as std (the MKI Octavia Elegance and MKI Suoerb Comfort are just two of them), but lower spec cars like the Fabia will need the additional controller.

Also, my friend said he swore he could do up the windows via the key fob on his Skoda. Are you able to?

You can already do this - but you need to put the key part on the door lock part - just like we used to years ago...

If you are driving in such a way that the ASR is getting in the way of your driving then you need to adjust your driving style. It only gets in the way when you exceed the capabilities of the car, you'll make better progress if you can drive with it ON and it not start flashing/activating since that means your wheels have lost traction and you are now wasting fuel and tyre tread going nowhere. With the ASR OFF this can only be worse, and wear the tyres and use more fuel.

ASR cannot be disabled full time since its considered a safety feature, and if you want it off then you'll have to put up with button pressing and the warning light which comes on when you switch off ASR.

Ditto - but I didn't want to be the first to say it. Mine often kicks in leaving traffic lights on a bend - but I think it's better to have it there and retain proper steering feel than needlessly spin the wheels and wander....

Traction control is for people who can't control their right foot :)

If you dont want it, take the fuse out :)

I'd agree. I only had ASR light up on mine on ice. or if I did something silly in the wet. The only other possibility is crap tyres?

Regarding the windows, I *thought* my Fabia did that without an add-on controller, but I don't have it any more. The locking thing is adjustable in the CCU.

Can you set coming home lights?

I'm confident I can pull away faster with ASR off than I can with it on, you could argue that it's my imagination but I'd be prepared to prove it too. I hate how ASR bogs down if you do loose traction slightly when it would be better to just let off very slightly rather than completely cut the power IMO.

It's the same with under-steering, I'm used to driving a car without any assists and I expect under-steer but when it randomly bogs down it just feels dangerous as I don't expect it and I'd sooner just control it myself. Personal preference I guess.

Is ASR the reaso why when turning quickly and sharply it goes stiff?

I thought it was pwer steering to fault lol

If by stiff you mean heavy, then to me that sounds like a problem with the battery.

Hm.... could this possibly be linked to the fact my traction control light comes on by itself after 20 mins or so of driving?

I have to say I agree with you - I too turn that bad boy off as soon as I start the car. Did in my last Fabia to.

ESP ftw :D

If windows can go up with a key, some aftermarket alarms can make the windows go up and down if fitted and programmed correctly.

Again, with an alarm system fitted, it is possible to buy an aftermarket auto headlights unit and wire this up as leaving and coming home lights.

+1. My car is quicker for sure with the asr off, it kicks in too early sometimes. Its not often i drive with it off, since i dont drive flat out all the time. However, when i go for a spirited drive, its off straight away

Matt

In that case I vote non-disableable ASR a legal requirement for any chav's car :D

:rofl::rofl: like a limiter lol
