Pic request, front lower arms

Featured Replies

Need some pics of peoples front wishbone lower arms,

I've had a problem with vrs from just about when i got it, it never felt stable on motorway, i put it down to tyres to start with but now having replaced all 4 tyres it still same, actually its worse

I noticed passenger side rear wishbone bush was split so after reading on here opted for new front bushs and TT solid rear bushs, made a real differance (but didn't totally cure unstable feel) and stopped the knocking noise on front passenger side i had,

Anyway after 3 weeks my knocking noise is back again, so put it on ramp at work and guess what passenger side rear bush is mashed again, only been in less than a month, then i noticed my lower arm where the bush fits is upside down, like it has a drivers side arm on passenger side, never noticed when i fitted bushs

So my question is are the arms handed or ment to be like that and if so which of my arms is right way round and is there any upgrades i can do instead of wasting money on a pair of new standard arms

It's the same arm either side just one is flipped over, how many miles have you done ?? Could be a shock is knackered

yeah the arms are identical just the ball joints that are rotated dependent on side, replaced mine yesterday so fresh in my mind lol

the arms are the same both sides, however unfortunately they are not symmetrical in the region of the rear bush mount, the nearside one "looks" and frankly technically is, upside down.

With stadard style press-in sleeved bushes (either void or solid TT type) this shouldn't be a problem, but with polyurethane types it is more of an issue as they really don't sit right in the nearside, especially the early Powerflex ones which did get forced out.

So there ment to be like that then,

Cars done 70k and front shocks are just starting to seep a little but on bounce test there still fine,

They will be getting changes when weather brightens up abit, but still don't get why it feels so unstable at speed

its the shocks, they might pass your bounce test but could be unbalanced so that one side is reacting differently to the other. Weaping shocks are bad for handling and should be replaced ASAP rather than when the weather brightens up.

Yeah i know really but am going to put a full kit on springs, shocks etc,

It deciding which kit as i've always run eibach springs with the standard sport shocks on my s40's i've had in past cos they work well together, but vrs is a totally differant, for a start eibach don't do a kit for vrs and going on standard shocks there not upto much either,

Looking at weitec kit but carn't decide
