Well, I had to stand aside & let you try "project black headlamp" :D I had actually wondered where to get something for the sills after I fitted the LCR splitter.

I really think the unpainted black ones will look OK on your black octy? Alternatively, a decent bodyshop will be able to prime & fill the textured ones, or you could sand 'em smooth.

£207 + vat is taking the P

:rofl::rofl::rofl:

Tbh, with a couple of coats of primer filler I don't think you would notice the difference, looks like they are coming in after all.

Right just phoned them back and the primed ones are £185 +vat!!!!!

The GTI unprimed are £26 +vat

How crazy is that lol

Il update this with the part numbers when he phones me back in a bit, but be worth someone else checking this with VW also so it aint just a mistake on their part.

That would be handy mate, as TPS will not search for parts without a part number!

Be careful there, these are the textured Gti skirts, NOT the primered R32/ED30 type, so they are very expensive compared to VW !

I bloody forgot to get the part numbers when he rang back. Sorry lads :(

Im picking them up tuesday, but will try and ring them monday if i get a minute and get the numbers up on here.

For the difference in price half hour giving them a rub down and a can of primer is nothing compared to over £300 saving on a pair!

Landed ive got them sorted now though :)

What a shocking let down you are! :giggle: Don't bother ringing them back buddy, the part numbers will be on the box and invoice.

Considering my first post, I am pleasantly surprised at how much interest this has caused!

Go for the tailgate spoiler too Lee.................go on ;)

I think the black textured ones would look great on my race blue RS. They would stand out and add to the look of the car. That's my opinion. On the cost front. I live in the south on Ireland but I'll be buying the parts in Newry N Ireland as parts up there are considerably cheaper compared to the south of Ireland!

I really like the look of these side skirts; nice mod. I need to get my front bumper resprayed after winter and was looking for a nice front splitter that may work well with the sideskirt add-on. Any suggestions guys - what have you done on your Octavia II's? Pics would be useful

Cheers,

Ste

Judging by today's experience, I don't think you'll save much. Add up all the parts needed as shown above, and it totals £75.88 & UK VAT @ 17.5% (for now!)

=£89.16. At todays exchange rate, 0.85, that's €104.89. From a Dublin VW dealer, I paid €136 inc. vat. Factor in your fuel or carriage costs & there isn't much in it, unless you're going there anyway or are getting other bits at the same time. I was told i would have my parts within two days, which is good too!

Leon Cupra R splitter-no pics at present, sorry.

Thanks, I take it the LCR splitter is cheap and not too much of a ball-ache to fit on the Octavia II then?

Should only cost about £25, I simply cut down the two centre "uprights" & screwed it up all round with self tappers & washers, including two through the cut down bits. I increased the radius of the splitter very slightly to get it to reach the outer edges-just bent it & screwed it up as I went along. The two ends needed about 40mm trimmed off. Simples really.

If you do make a b4lls of it, the holes are all under the bumper anyway.

I think it looks very well & OEM even. Subtle, but effective. ;)

Edit: There's a brand new one for sale @£15 here:

Not much of a difference. Mmm

What colour is your car? Are you going to leave them black?

I would prefer this RS+ front option - but not at this price!!!! I would like to get it colour coded as well. B)

Super Skoda RS+ Splitter

http://www.superskoda.com/Skoda/OCTAVIA-II/Octavia-II-RS-front-spoiler-RS-Plus

Anyone found a cheap source for this option?!?

I like these as a subtle addition, but my god, over priced or what just because they are carbon fibre, I would expect gold for that money! It might be worth buying a set to cast a mould from, then reproduce in plastic....... :wonder:

Right-got the skirts @ lunchtime-fair play to the stealers on delivery time anyway!

Looking at them quickly, I may not use the mounting strips-it looks like they need to be drilled & screwed/bolted through the sill, and that I ain't doing!!

The skirts themselves fit perfectly when I offered them up, & there are some mounting points using OE screws it seems. Looks like I'll be using "sill"-icone  for the rest-the skirts are lightweight, but I don't want them blowing off or getting pulled off by water/snow etc.....

I'll try & work out what the adaptors are for too-not immediately obvious.... :wonder:

I'll photograph the fitting as it goes along & post it up. ;)

Could you post the part numbers for the black textured side skirts? Cheers

Do the adapters look like this?

If so, they clip in to the skirt as pictured then attach to the underside of the car where 2 x rubber bunges are located, at least on the Golf they do! :giggle:

Check this thread from the MK IV forum on fitting of the skirts mate.

The adaptors don't fit any original holes/bungs on the Octy! :'( All I've ended up using is the skirts-I'll get the pics up tomorrow-it's too dark in the warehouse for decent pictures.... :giggle: Not everything is straightforward, but it's done for now & looks cracking IMO!
