The adaptors don't fit any original holes/bungs on the Octy! :'( All I've ended up using is the skirts-I'll get the pics up tomorrow-it's too dark in the warehouse for decent pictures.... :giggle: Not everything is straightforward, but it's done for now & looks cracking IMO!

This is what happens when i spend too long on briskoda

Feck i like the look of them, interesting to see how you get on with em, just over €100 all in, i take it the adaptors and other bits are suplus as they dont have anywhere to fit anyway?

Dont think i would get away with leaving them black on my blue rs ?

:giggle: Tell me about it-I'll have to hide the credit card bills from the missus

I have them on-adaptors useless; mounting strips need screwed thru' the sill-I don't like the idea of that! having said that, they cost sweet FA. I've ended up using hot melt glue for now-will see how it lasts, although I managed to get a screw though both ends with little butchery! If anyone's thinking of doing it, a heat gun would be a good idea-the contour of the golf rear arch is very slightly different as far as I can make out. Soften it up a bit & it flexes OK to fit.

Black on blue car? I don't know-I think you'll have to get your wheels painted black-should be OK then!

IMO they look OK with the (black) LCR splitter up front-that's a cheap mod if you're looking for one!

Thanks for the Part numbers. I think the black skirts would look great on a Race Blue RS. I plan on fitting black skirts to mine. Will wait until the new year to fit them. I think the colour coded skirts would hardly stand out. I had a MKV gti and I always loved the contrasting skirts compared to the ones on the R32

Black on the Blue may look nice especially with the front splitters as highlighted earlier in the thread, and rear diffuser.

Then - darken the alloys and it may look very mean!

It could be a better attempt at the RS+ model than Skoda managed themselves. :giggle:

Really looking forward to seeing these. I'll have the fitting strips and adapters off your hands for when swmbo's car arrives, if you want shot?!

Up to my diddys in work at the mo-will post photos later.

Probably cost more to send bits to UK than they cost from stealer :giggle: Plus, if they do fall off I might need them after all!

When the Eibachs are on it should look better.

As for a how-to, well seeing as I didn't use the support strips, there's very little to it. You will need:

Adhesive/glue gun/silicone & gun

Drill & bits (not entirely necessary-you can force a self tapper through plastic!)

Heat gun

Extra pair of hands if possible!

2 Self Tappers & washers-5x15 or similar

Remove this Torx screw in the front wheelarch liner:

HPIM1326.jpg

Clean the entire area with something fairly strong to remove any grease. Make sure it's dry-you don't want mud & moisture trapped behind. The double sided tape supplied on the skirt won't be enough to hold it-I suggest clear silicone or decent bodyshop trim adhesive. I used a hot melt glue gun, but it dries too quickly for comfort! :S

Stick it up-you may need support while it dries-empty boxes worked for me lol

HPIM1309.jpg

Around the rear edge of the door/arch will need a little gentle heat to make it soften & flex to the shape of the body-unless you have a very aggressive adhesive.

HPIM1310.jpg

Screw the Torx screw back in to the front arch-you'll need to make a new hole in the end of the skirt for this-the existing hole doesn't line up. You can tuck the arch liner behind the skirt if preferred-I made a b4lls of the hole in the skirt, so covered it with the liner! :D

HPIM1313.jpg

HPIM1314.jpg

Screw another self-tapper & washer through the bracket at the back of the skirt. Again, this won't line up with the existing screw unfortunately, so I screwed it into the plastic surrounding it, which seemed to hold it OK

You're done!

That looks lovely - really nice mod. Now all you've got to do is get rid of the chrome mirrors and door handles! emoticon-0136-giggle.gif

I know, I know-love 'em or loathe 'em...we'll see..... :giggle:

Not bad, I think they would need coding on a different colour car though, my only thought as well is the front bumper needs bulking out with a side splitter as mentioned in posts 45 - 46, thus achieving a fluid line from the front if that makes sense?

Excellent.............now you just need to find a firm who makes one of these for an Octavia :rofl:

Aye-find some that are affordable & I'll be the guinea pig.... :giggle:

Hey that's awesome....would solve the "tailgate dumps water in the boot" problem too...

More to the point, that chrome on the back of it is turning me on.....

Back on topic for a sec and regarding these GTI "skirts", I'm just not convinced. They don't fit well enough at the back and the black pastic looks naff, hence why an awful lot of GTI owners remove them, colour code them or replace them with proper R32 ones. Also, whilst I'm being a bitch, those chrome bits are just wrong. :giggle:

You know you want one Nick

yep - very nice and thanks for the write-up on fitting. Not too bad at all with enough patience and spare hands

I think i'll colour code for my Race Blue and definitely opt for a different splitter solution to continue the lines to the front bumper.

I'll be fitting a set of black skirts to my race blue RS I think they will look great in contrast to the rest of the colour code on the car. @ veryredskoda I think they have been fitted on really and look a good fit myself. Not everything retro fitted on to the body of a car needs to be colour coded. My skirts will be ordered this week and fitted in the black texture they come in!

hmmm, having seen this, I think Ive changed my mind, I dont think it fits into any of the lines on the front and rear bumbers... which I kind of thought it would. Its not terrible (seen much worse!), just not for me! fair play to you for giving it a go!

@veryredskoda now to get it to a meet to see in the flesh :giggle: :giggle:

I do tend to agree here, but to be fair the skirt doesn't really follow the lines of the Golf until it manifests into the ed30 or R32!

So are R32 skirts different then?

If you look at the skirts in veryRedSkoda's 'how to', you can see the Gti type appear to be covered in small pimples, whereas the R32/ed30 skirts are smooth abs plastic that comes ready primed. veryRedSkoda, will be able to clarify this, but I don't think it would take much to flatten the Gti ones back and then use a filler/primer to achieve the same result for a fraction of the cost! A lot of the members over on the mkv Golf forum have colour coded their exsisting Gti skirts which are textured as standard.

Definitely do-able (so sue me if it fails lol). I'd be worried about stone chipping behind the front wheels though. Oh & I hate mudflaps before it's suggested.... :p
