leaky doors - fixed!

Featured Replies

FInally got around to sorting this

But pay special attention to what you use lol

I actually had a go first time and thought I used silicone. It was acrylic and leaked like a bugger and made hell of a mess to clear up

Got some decent drain and gutter sealant, seems to be a similar material as described in the fix and has to be manipulated using soapy water or it sticks to your gloves.

Really does the job, I haven't had misty windows or wet carpets since in the last few weeks dry as a bone.

Got both rear door panels off my combi at the moment and used gutter sealant on the carriers. Not sure whether it's fixed at the moment, had some leakage on one this morning so added some more sealant......

I did mine two weeks ago, they was a gap at the bottom of the carrier and door,so much so when you push the carrier water drop out so i put so self tappers along the bottom edge then resealed it.It seems to of worked

Mine did the same, just put a lot of pressure on the join to get all the water out and sealed it up with a heap of Roof&Gutter sealent. Sat the dehumidifyer in the car for a few hours afterwards and the car has been mist free every morning this week so far :)

I did manage to break both the tabs off one of the tweeter housings though, hasn't fallen out yet!

I sealed mine up last christmas and one has just started to show signs of leaking again :dull:

Still, im fixing it today with a heat gun and silicone which is all good.

Best not to use gutter sealant, as mentioned above, it does the job initially but eventually leaves a residue on the seal.

Better to go for a decent sealant to save having to do the job twice.

So nice having an unmisty car, even after three spaniels!

Thanks to all on here for the advice on sealing door carriers.

I've not heard anybody complaining about gutter sealant... in fact it seems to be the recommended tool for the job. What did you use to do yours?

Gutter Sealant worked wonders for me.....Even Tiger Seal was crap!

What brand of Gutter Sealant are people using??
