Rear Skoda Badge Please Help

Featured Replies

Im what you would call a bit strange, and ive noticed that my rear skoda badge is a bit tatty, Quiet simply I was going to pop a new one on. I was just wanting to know how its held on. If its just held in with adhesive? or is it pinned in. The only reason why I ask is my old shed of a c2 the badges were pinned in. So people used to pull them off and be shocked at the holes staring back at them

Any help would be awesome

The middle one is pinned and stuck on.

How easy are they to remove and what's the best plan of attack? Mine looks to have got water under the face of it or something and is also looking a bit worse for wear. Does a new one come with adhesive already on the back?

Thanks

Marc

air dryer and. Bfi. The pins are plastic and the sticky stuff is tough! I believe the new badge will come with the sticky attached (don't quote me on that though)

Rear badge is just held on with sticky foam tape.

There are two pins on the back of the front and rear badges with corresponding holes

on the car. The pins are there purely for alignment on the rear badge.

On the front the in addition to the sticky foam, the two pins are melted flat to help hold the badge on.

(pop your bonnet and take a look  )

An old credit card is a good bet for lifting the badge, don't be tempted to use a screwdriver

to pry it up as you will damage the paint. Some thick fishing line can also help you get under

the badge. At this time of year I'd recommend warming the old badge with a hairdryer first to make

the foam softer..

There will almost certainly be some residue left on the car from the old sticky pad. WD40 or tar spot remover

will help to clean this off. If you use WD40, clean it off again thoroughly or the new badge won't stick well.

The OE badges suffer from water ingress when the clear plastic layer either starts to lift or on the front in particular,

gets stone chipped. I'd bet the OPs rear badge is tatty round the edges. Quite a common fault.

As Phil said, New OE badges are peel and place. Sticky foam is already on 'em. I've bought several ;)

Cool sounds easy enough thanks. I've done the fabia badge but though the skoda badge may have tougher adhesive - will get a new one ordered up and give it a go :)

Cheers legend

The oe sticky pad IS well stuck on, Took ages to get mine off by the method above. You could wait for warm weather before attempting it.

You can also use a piece of nylon fishing cord, place at the back of the badge, use both hands and saw up and down dragging the nylon cord through.
