cheapest insurance for vrs

Featured Replies

My insurance for my vrs, is coming up for renewal next week, just wondered if any of you guys can point me in the right direction of the cheapest insurance companys. thanks

Tesco

swift cover for me

This question will depend on so many factors. hence the cheapest for me is probably not going to be the cheapest for you. But for what it is worth Tesco was the cheapest for me again this year.

You have to shop around, what is cheapest for me may be the most expensive for you due to the different factors involved in the insurance industry (most of which I'm pretty sure is a finger in the air job....)

The only quotes similar to yours would be someone with the same job driving a similar number of miles with the same convictions (or lack of) with the same family circumstances living in the same postcode area...

Try the site sponsors on here, and use the comparison websites and then try phoning the cheapest ones and see how low you can get them by stating Company X has quoted me this, can you beat it?

Don't forget quidco/topcashback.

Last year mrs and I both got £100 cashback from Privilege on our policies making them cheapest for us overall.

Try Aviva

Admiral for me was cheapest. Its all horses for courses really.

Suggestion to help lower your insurance: Name drivers (female) can bring it down, limit mileage, garage and more than one car in the household all help bring it down.

Added both my mother and aunt on my policy and it went down by over £400!!

thanks guys, i will ring around.

Try First Direct.

They beat any quote by 10%.

See what they come out at, then ring back your insurance company to see if they'll beat them.

Personally I'm with Directline. No-one beats them for me every year. Plus once I've quoted up with first direct, they always beat them even if it is only a few quid

Use confused.com. MoreThan beat Directline last year by 50%. this year by 20%. 2 named drivers Fully comp, Business & Social £250 with protected NCB, hire car, legal and low excess. The downside is that when I asked about a stage 1 remap they stated that the policy would be cancelled.

my cheapest was with skoda's own insurance company

gave me the free week complimentary cover, when i called up they asked if i wanted a quote for the next year (i thought "oh right here we go..."), they quoted me the same price that the best company on confused.com did, then knocked another £50 off because i missed being 25 by 19 days at the start of the policy

just over £700 fully comp for the year, £61 a month

Esure.

Not the very cheapest but a UK call centre gave me someone that understood me when I *******ed them.

A recent claim was handled ok. Which I think is about as good as you get from an ins company.

Don't forget about Quidco etc for cash back.

Another shout for Admiral, always look around and keep going back to them (or Elephant, who are the same company). If you have 2 or more cars their multicar quotes take a lot of beating.

And another for Admiral. I've just had occasion to call upon their services when shelving with lots of tiles on came off my garage wall and made a terrible mess of roof and left side of my Octy. They were prompt, polite and efficent keeping me updated daily by phone form their Cardiff base.

Would agree that Admiral is worth a look. (has been the cheapest for me for several years). Worth checking a comparison site though!

Worth shopping around, using all the price comparison sites.

I got my cover from M&S and it was substantially cheaper than the offer from the same insurance company who ended up underwriting it.!

Interesting point from polocoupe on named drivers, it hadn't occurred to me, will do that when my policy comes up again.

Actually I've said this before, but when fiddling around with my Admiral quote last year I found that it was cheaper by about £40 to say the car was parked on the street than in a garage...don't know if this was a system glitch or just a weird by-product of various rules their software uses...

Also adding my wife, who's a learner, on the vRS policy brought down the quote by £80-odd pounds...
