vRS vs Golf TDi 150

Featured Replies

Having driven the Elegance 1.9 and my own Furby I'd say the Elegance seemed to pull more consistently, maybe due to 5 speed box as well, but less hard. The vRS pulls like mad but it's over a lot quicker.

I'm guessing a remap would make it able to keep going for a bit longer higher up in the revs, above 3.5k?

The PD100 sure would have been ok, but not in character with the warm hatch vRS image ;)

Mine pulls hard almost to the red-line, strange how many say theirs dies after 3,500....

I'd agree with that, I

The Elegance pulls more consitently because it has a wider band of peak torque, unlike the vRS which has a spike, which makes the power delivery more useable with only 5 gears :D

i have had plenty of VAG diesels (130, 150, 160) all in Seat cars....coming from a Ibiza 130 TDI to a Leon 150TDI i found that the 130 was initially quicker due to quicker spool up times on the turbo, but when the turbo kicked in on the 150 it felt a little quicker....i can honestly say that there was not much in it performence wise....the Ibiza 160 TDI on the other hand was noticably quicker than both the 130 and 160 TDI's. As for economy i found that the 130 and 160 was actually better than the 150 TDI!!!

Must admit a 5 speed box in the PD100 worked perfectly fine - it was a little slower but still plenty of speed there :D

Suppose I'll have to rev it a bit more, see what happens. It is still loosening up and I got stuck in a massive traffic jam (10 miles of joy) doing mostly start-stop today so kinda hoping for a burst of speed

I had a Golf 130pd when I was down south - deffo feels less sprightly than the vrs. Ride is totally different too.

Having driven a new Golf 2.0 GT Tdi for a little while, it felt really tough call between that and the fabia.

The Golf was much more refined and seemed to pull to longer in each gear (6spd)

But the furby felt much more "grunty" being keener from lower revs and pulling harder.

Still it all boils down to the individuals perception of speed.

Probably the only car i would swap my furby for BUT no way i would want the price adjustmant that comes with it !

As does mine Paul...but it never used to! Ever since i started using the "keep revs above 2k" rule the engine likes to rev a lot more...maybe the ECU has adjusted itself or something?

Strangely enough, thats exactly what I do as well. It seems to me if you baby the car, then it simply does not drive as well.

Predicted resale value of the Golf 2.0 GT Tdi and the GTI FSI are 65% after 3 years and 36k miles, so I'd say looking at the wider picture the apparently larger outlay is not a true reflection of cost, assuming you trade the car in after 3 years. Based on this information, and assuming a purchase price of 19k, it would cost you

I think the VW ones are very good, just cannot afford them. Initial outlay is higher and thus prohibitive to me. As you point out though, devaluation is good :)

Exactly.!

How come other people always say what i mean much clearer than i do !

The fabia is a great affordable car, can you even get a new golf for 12 k ?

 - my comment was based on reading yours :D - one of the jobs I do is to figure out what a customer (or consultant) ACTUALLY wants to have programmed - that doesn't mean I get it right all the time though hehehehe :D

I dunno if you can get a VW for 12k, but our company has a whole bunch of lease cars with VW, mainly Golf TDI or FSI and Passats.

At the moment I'm definitely the only one with a Furby vRS, not even sure if there are any Skodas in the car park ? Still, getting good feedback on it :D
