Yeti spotting - result!

Featured Replies

All of a sudden they're absolutely everywhere in Harrogate!

True! Mine/SWMBO's seen in and around there at least 2-3 times/week. When not in Ripon or one of the villages between the two.

A very busy Muscovado / bronze example on duty as radio car up by the top corner of the service area at Sweet Lamb Rally Complex today. Not Graham? Speedsport perhaps?

Right at the top of the service area, at post 11, just after the hairpin?

It was me, and Jerry was at J22, just into the Forest.

You should have come and said hello!!

This week's Gadget Show contains a piece about SatNavs and Google mapping - guess which car they showed with cameras fixed to the top doing Google Street View?  Very much looked the part!

My new Yeti must have looked lonely parked on its own in Downtown Garden Centre car park near Grantham today. When we came back, a grey TDI reg FT12 was parked next to us

Having just spent the weekend down on Romney Marsh, I have to wonder whether the area is Yeti Central? Saw lots of them, but didn't get a wave off one!!

Parked in New Romney High St yesterday, and when we came back to the car a nice new blue facelift was parked in front so had a good look, and was most impressed. Mind you SWMBO couldn't see the differences without them being pointed out!! How the hell can you miss the fog lights?

Drat!  Yes I should!  For some reason I didn't think your SM was that colour. Doh!

Ended up watching lines at the hairpin for a while after we'd limped our Avenger back to service on 3 cyls.  It lunched its head gasket in Myherin.

Rumour has it on another forum that the Hamster was up there for a while too!

Did you visit Dungeness? Fascinating area, with 19th century lighthouse and nuclear power side by side. Power station gradually being undermined by the effects of longshore drift erosion, so they have to keep trucking the shingle back round the corner, up drift of the power station again!  My front garden is modelled on those of the beach houses between there and New Romney.  But the neighbours already knew SWMBO and I were seriously whacky before we did that.

One of the scariest moments of my rallying career was on Romney Marsh during the "Powerush" road rally in early 80's. We put an Escort RS2000 off on a 90L near Newchurch.  Through the hedge sideways then into one of the very deep river channels. Getting out while the water was coming in proved rather tricky as the car sank just out sight below the water level. Recovering it from there was even trickier!   Ranks alongside being inside a Darrian that was seriously on fire at RAF Marham 2 years ago.

Oh dear, several times over.

The Hamster was there, watching the Bowlers. I did say good afternoon to him!

We drove down to the Old Lighthouse late in the day; very strange place!

Yetis are still quite rare in these parts - until today.  Within the space of a bare two hours ....

1   we passed a matching Musky, with a big wave :hi: , on the Missenden side of Chequers

2   a Cappu 1.2 DSG Indoor FL (my first) was properly displaying its Blue Permit, parked outside M&S in the pedestrianised High Street of Aylesbury ('Oh! Look!' said madam, with her eye for detail; 'They've changed the badges')

3   I gave way to an anonymous 62 plate black SM at the Terrick roundabout

4   I was totally ignored, as usual, by the lady driver of a local-ish silvery Yeti

5   I fell in love with Annie all over again, go-karting round the Chiltern lanes

You want to take a drive to Watford. I passed 3 on the way to work this morning and it's only 7 miles!

Oh, and thanx to the lady driver of the silver one that let me out onto the ring road on the way home last night :)

Well I went to the barber this morning, passed two yetis on the way and parked next to one. Then walked into Crossgates near Leeds from the barbers and walked past a parked 14 reg white FL.

Then passed another at a roundabout on the way home.

This car is getting too common now

common or popular ?

I can see why the Yeti is so popular because it is a great car

Think i just got flashed by a muscovado yeti outside the shell garage in Fleet, anyone on here?

Must have been Yeti day today!

3 in the car park of Gobowen Hospital this morning, 1 x silver, 2 x Muscavado (plus mine)

1 red facelift on the A5 outside Llanglollen.

1 white one in Porthmadog

and finally a silver one on the A470 near Dolgellau

Just returned yesterday from a long weekend in Brighton, where we were attending a friend's wedding. An almost 8-hour drive (motorway almost the entire way - M80/M73/M74/M6/M42/M40/M25/M23), yet we saw only five other Yetis (all pre-FL) on the road during the entire 1,000 mile trip there and back...and three of those were in the villages of East Sussex.

You missed another Musky in Porthmadog then!

Only seen a few glimpses of others here - though followed a Steel Grey classic through Nefyn yesterday evening. I did see my first Rapid Spaceback, also in Porthmadog.

I'll need to keep an eye on mine as the holiday cottage owner likes the Yeti and wants one to replace her Fabia.

I got to Port' about 1230, and parked in the car park by the park by Edinburgh Wool Shop, and the white one was parked at the top of the road.

Had lunch at Spooners on Harbour Station, joined the Fest Society and bought some 009 stuff in the shop. Nice day out.

Ah - we were parked in the same place until 11:30! Going back on Thursday for a tour of the Purple Moose Brewery

I hope someone else is driving!!

They do some excellent beers.

Off to Cornwall on Thursday, towing the caravan.

Saw a white pre-FL Yeti in The Fox pub car park on Coulsdon Common Sunday around 2 PM.

Two more classic Muskys today, a '10 plate in Beddgelert and a '13 near Croesor. Haven't seen a FL since leaving Wetherby on Sunday.

A nice light flash and wave, returned of course, from a black pre FL in Abbotts Langley about 17.15 last night.

And parked opposite another '10 plate Musky in Tesco car park at Porthmadog early this afternoon.

Not seen a FL Yeti since I collected mine 3 weeks ago then today I saw two within 3 mins! A Silver and a Steel grey one both on 14 plates, both travelling West in Brighton Road Lancing just past the roadworks at 10.30 this morning.

Fred

Had my FL since Dec 22 last year and still not seen another FL out on the road.
