What Emeregency Kit Will You Be Carrying for Xmas trips?

Featured Replies

Apart from the manadatory and usual stuff, I will probably include a shovel, spotlight, some sort of snow mat (an old front door mat), blanket and a thermos just in case.

Any advances ?

Nick

Barbour, fireproof Hi-Vis, hard hat, goggles, sharps gloves, steel toecap boots, tape measure? But they're in the car anyway for work in my case! :giggle:

The only snow stuff in addition to you = extra screenwash, but I carry jumpleads, spare bulbs, gaffer tape, WD40 and a few tools as a matter of course anyway...

Am just wondering if the last three items are for use on the first item??? emoticon-0136-giggle.gif

Seriously though, I wouldn't go out if I thought theere was a serious chance of getting a significant amount of snow. Normally have a hat, coat, jumpers, waterproof jkt and stuff in the car anyway along with a spare headlight bulb and usually screenwash. Who doesn't take a load of food and drink on a long car journey? Nom, nom, nom.

To the usual kit of hi-viz, triangle, 1st aid kit, spare bulbs, travel rugs, fire extinguisher, torches I'll be adding:

Thermos flask containing hot drink

Small snow shovel

Wellies/walking boots

Think that should cover it

Do wonder about a snow shovel , if its needed then would think better not to go any further , unless 1 is spendoing all the time on B country roads . Agrre with other bits , as keeping warm whillst walking a few miles from the car is an obvious downside .

Water - you can drink it, wash lights/windows or even use it as coolant.

Metal Spade/Shovel - plastic snow shovels are of no use if you need to clear a few yards of ice/compacted snow.

Ordered one of these from Amazon for my lad as he's recently got driving with his first car; currently stuck in the post somewhere.

Fire extinguisher is a good point - seems to be lots of car fires ATM...

After getting stuck last year in the centre of Durham overnight & having to find a hotel at 11pm at night i have got an over night bag / spare set work uniform.

. . . . and a plastic storage crate in my boot with WD40 , Torch , Hi Viz Coat , Snow Shovel , Bag Of Grit , 5ltrs Screen Wash , Blanket , Wellies , Plug In Flashing Amber light , Mars Bars & Lucozade :p

A lot of you are well prepared. Even just going to work currently I have work boots, spade, spare clothes, chocolate, water (for car and me), and extra screenwash. That is In addition to what I always carry, blankets (you never know when you might need them any day - car accident for example), jump leads, tools (spanners, screw drivers, torq bits), WD40, air compressor, fuses, fire extinguisher, high vis jacket, warning triangle, torch (both wind up and battery currently!).

There is something ironic there... made me smile. :)

Coat, hat, gloves, water and a tow rope does me fine.

Already used the rope a few times to pull people out of difficulty.
