Which Tyre Best on VRS Quick Advise Needed

Featured Replies

Hi All,

Sorry not time to run a search.

Just had a blow out on one of my front tyres and need new tyres fast.

Thinking about Michelin Sport 3 or Goodyear GSD3's.

Any opinions on these or anything better.

Need to get them sorted before Xmas as now running on the New original Bridgestone on the Spare Rim which has a 50mph limit. :'(

How about Uniroyal Rainsport 2

I have replaced the front pair with these on mine and I think they are ace, I brought them for the wet weather performance, they are also good in the dry and been ok in the snow (better than I thought they would be in the snow).

For the price (I paid less than £70 each) cannot really go wrong.

+1 for GSD3s.

Interesting how everyone has different views on tyres, I've had Eagle F1 before and they were good in the dry and wet but lots of road noise and atrocious in the snow/ice.

Good luck deciding what to get, its a minefield of contradicting advice :)

round ones are the best :p

not tried either of the above but run Toyo T1-R's and Falken 452's on my fabia and both have given lots of grip and life (toyo's lasting longer 30k on toyo's and 27k on falkens).

This may help with reviews etc

I always had Eagle F1's on my 206 GTi, great grip on bends & not bad at all going around Rockingham.

I'm getting new tyres for Xmas for the Fabia, was going to get Uniroyal Rainsport 2's but I'm not sure now!

I'd give the Michelin Sport 3's a go.

Cheers Guy's,

Please keep the comments coming, can't get hold of the michelin at present.

Can get Pirelli P Zero's but not sure about them.

I haven't heard good things about them.

I'm leaning toward Toyo Proxes T1-R's or Eagle F1's again, currently got Kumhos & they aren't great.

Toyo T1-R's here.

Can get Pirelli P Zero's but not sure about them.

My mate bought a set of these, excellent tyres, seem to be wearing well too!

Matt

I recently replaced my Continental Sport Contact 2's with Toyo Proxes T1-R's and the Toyos are much better

Reduced road noise and they grip far better in the wet. Have transformed the car some what.

I was originally after some Uniroyal Rainsport 2's but after talking to a few local tyre places they recommended the T1-R's over the Rainsport 2's, saying they were a far superior tyre.

Hope that helps

Luke

Pirelli p6000 and p7000 have always been ace on all my other cars, as soon as the fabia ones are bald i will be getting these ,

then again dont know if they do them in fabia size ?

I've got the Pirelli P Zero's on mine at the moment and had them on my Ibiza Cupra and have always been impressed with them. I did try the Toyo T1-R's but they didn't last as long.

pirelli's FTW - replaced Kuhmo Ecstas with pirellis and have no complaints at all

it's also wearing bearing in mind that the standard spare is a full size standard 16" steel wheel rather than a psace saver so (regardless of what the sticker says) you're not limited to 50mph

people have actually accumilated 4 spares and run them as a full set of winter wheels

Did wonder that about the spare but wasn't going to risk it.

Hi All,

Sorry not time to run a search.

What a naughty boy, you are. Just think of all those cute kittens being shot at the moment! :'(

Anyway, If you want something cheap, I'd suggest these.

Toyo T1-R - Camskill

£126.38 for a pair delivered. (then add approx £20 for fitting)

I've got them at the moment, and like them. They don't mind the cold, unlike F1s, and are much cheaper. However I think F1s are better when it's very wet. I am going to try Rainsports next.

Edit: Too late, you've gone for expensive Pirellis

Wow... My Toyo's lasted ~7k, and have never had a pair of front tyres last more than 9k on the Furb!

Found the Toyo's great, but needed to warm up massively before they didn;t feel like budget tyres.

Avon ZZR3's similar.

Continental sportsontact (?) Std fit, great, but wore out in lridiculous time.

Now on F1 GSD3's, and won'g put anything else on - they're amazing in all conditions, and cost me ~£78/corner fitted.

did you try many places ?.......pretty much everywhere has the Michelin Pilot Sport 3 now

Michelins in my opinion are the best tyres on the road, worth every penny, things like Uniroyal Rainsports simply dont come close, neither do Toyo Proxes, they are mid range tyres, not in the same league, and yes ive had both and many others, i find the Michelins actually end up being the cheapest tyre, they last that much longer than the others

Pirelli p zero Nero on my 16's were fantasic

I've now got Goodyear eagle f1's on my 17 inch spiders.

Tbh the grip was better on the 16's but I don't know if that's because the are smaller.

The grip on my f1's is good shocking in snow good in wet getting the odd twitch and slide in the corners but I'm confident enough to throw it into corners and it not end up into a bush :)

Uniroyal Rainsport 2s, although good luck finding some. I need 2 for the rear (handling is downright dangerous at the moment) and can't find anywhere that has them (for reasonable money).
