Eleventh hour deal.

Featured Replies

After months of pondering over buying a Yeti, took the plunge today and paid the deposit on a 1.2 dsg.

I had heard that Skoda were raising prices as well as the vat increase.I phoned one local dealer to obtain a price without part exchange and was quoted £200/£300 off list price if signing up today as I was also saving £800 on the new list price.

I had also been following drive- the- deal pricing and had seen their price drop from £2200 a few months ago to £1900 yesterday to £1800 today(old prices).I then phoned another dealer who said, what has he got to do get my business, I gave him the DTD price.About 15 mins later he phoned back and matched DTD price.

When to the dealers later today to sign.

My spec,

1.2 dsg Elegance in cappucino with gobi sand.

heated windscreen

temp spare wheel

tyre pressure monitor

I have still time add some extras at old price so suggestions welcome.

Well done.

That's a fair saving.

Suggest, as an option, the £55 'LIGHT ASSISTANT'. Apart from whatever function it might perform, it raises the height of the interior mirror and improves vision out of the windscreen especially if you're tall and/or like the drivers seat set high. Ordered it on mine on advice received here, along with rubber mats and boot liner + Muscovado paint and mudflaps.

Thanks for the quick replies.

The light assist is standard on the Elegance.

I am tempted with the park assist though as suggested by Mcdemon.I had a Citroen C4 Picasso with park assist-never used it,you drove along as per Skoda system ,when it found the space you had to manually try to reverse into the space...no way!.

I don't know as yet when delivery will be.According to one dealer some diesels have a 6/7 month wait for delivery.

Hi Mike,

congrats on the order, think you have your spec spot on myself. Very similar to my order although being a 4x4 I went for the RRP as well. Have subsequently added front park sensors for my good lady wife ;)

Anyway I hope your wait will not be to long; if my provisional build is correct then probably 4.5 months for me.

Regards,

TP

I also recommend park assist. But maily for the front park sensors. Very useful when parking in tight spaces as you can go much closer than you think you can. Park Assist is great, though only used it about 3 times so far. It will get used more as time goes by.

I like the sound system which is much better than standard, but you may be able to upgrade STD system cheaper. I went for oem stuff.

The Yeti not only tells you if you can fit in the space, it ALSO parks it too

The vehicle does the steering, you just control the speed :D

I use it all the time, just so people can watch in disbelief as I read a book while parking

Now, I MUST let Kitten have a go...............hmmmmmm.................................................on second thoughts. NAAAAAAH :giggle:

Dunno how I'm going to mount it somewhere coz I cant drive and film too

Surely whether or not you need park assist depends entirely on what sort of driving you do and where you need to normally park. If you leave your car on a congested urban street, it could be quite useful.

I don't have it and have not missed it once yet, after 6 months and 9000 miles of Yeti driving.

I normally park in car parks, my drive, or on relatively uncongested roads, and can't recall a single instance where I would have needed park assist to get in. I also think the forward visibility is pretty good and have not yet felt a need for the front sensors either. The rear sensors are very useful though, and ought to be mandatory on alll cars.

No one ever mentions the downside of the auto park system either. If the space is small enough to need it to get in, it will not only be a squeeze to get out (Hence the need for all round sensors I guess), but you end up so close to other vehicles there is a good chance they will clip you themselves trying to get out without any sensors available to them.

I have seen the technique some drivers use to get out of small spaces. Gently back up (or sometimes not so gently) until you hit the car behind, add full lock and move forward until you hit the car in front, reverse lock and repeat until you can get out!

We have a flat in Aix-en-Provence where on-street parking is a nightmare (very narrow streets, very high granite kerbs) and the skill of many local drivers in getting in and out of minute spaces fills me with awe. The technique described in your last paragraph is favoured - and often necessary - and seldom does any visible damage to the vehicles involved: I guess that's down to modern, impact-absorbing bumpers. Although we are lucky enough to have a garage with our flat, I am certainly looking forward to having park assist for use in urban France if not in rural North Yorkshire!

As stated in my first post, mine was a last minute deal before the price increase. My dealer has given me extra time to select any extras and colour.

My final problem is the selection of colour,I fancy the Rosso Brunello metallic, a new colour for the Yeti but used in other Skoda models.

Do you think this colour would suit a Yeti Elegance with Gobi sand interior.

There's a handful of pictures in the SMOC flicker group of a Rosso Yeti My link

Yes the Gobi (with wood effect dash) would I think go well, plus the Anna alloys and silver rails as depicted above.

Thanks to The Plumber and Photoemt for the links.

I feel I may go for the rosso metallic. The thing if you're buying a Ford or Vauxhall you can pop into the showroom and look at various colours on the cars ,just finding a Yeti in a showroom or anyware is a problem.

This week in the course of my work Ive been to Leeds,Derby and around Birmingham and seen not one Yeti.

Theres some more photos on the French Forum

theres a few of us around penistone with yeti's...ur welcome to come look

Many (most?) of us have gone through traumas of indecision re colours and many (most?) of us have changed our initial order. I guess the simple truth is that the Yeti looks pretty good in any colour and you just have to go with what you like personally. It's true, however, that it is helpful to see them in the flesh: I had a cappucino/onyx on order then happened to see a second hand muscavado/gobi in a showroom and instantly changed my order to that combination!

I originally chose Cappuccino/Onyx as per the first Yeti I saw, but ended up with Candy White/Gobi/wood trim, which I did not see until it was delivered, apart from some photos of Redandwhitepauly's. Love it.

Yes, the Yeti looks great in all colours.

Provisional Final configuration!.

1.2 TSI DSG Yeti Elegance in Rosso Brunello metallic

Gobi Sand interior

Heated windscreen

Park assist

Tyre pressure monitor

Silver roof rails

Steel spare wheel

The park assist will be rarely used, but as my current and previous cars had front parking sensors I feel its prudent to keep with them,I figured the extra £190 for park assist would help on resale, or should I ditch PA and use the £190 for say rough road package.

Sounds a nice spec

From my experience selling the previous Monster which had quite a few options, then you get little or nothing financially back come resale time. However options do make a car more attractive to the buyer (garage or private).

I would personally just get the kit that you think you need and will be useful to you during your ownership.

For me I categorised my options as follows then went on affordability;

Must have

Spare wheel

RRP

(just have to look at the incident that befell rockhopper to understand why I see these options as important)

Useful

Heated screen

TPM

Park sensors

Personal taste

Metallic

Silver rails

Alloy upgrade

From an affordability angle I left the paint, rails and park sensors out. Although I later more for my good lady added the park sensors in place of the alloys.

Hope that's of help,

TP

Hi Tim

just been to my dealer to see how my 110 order stands after your post about build week and your email from James, my 110 now has a order no but no build week yet but i added light assist last week and he said that it may be to late to add it but they are still trying.

I asked about skoda trying to get orders for the tdi changed to the 1.8tsi and he said that skoda may do a deal if the order was changed. so have given them the challenge to get me a 1.8 elegance for the same money as my 110. he is going to ring them tomorrow and let me know (still have heated screen as part of the deal) i think he will push as he would like my 1.2 asp.

Also in the showroom today was a 170 se white yeti WITH A VELUX ROOF arrived 2 days ago ordered last Feb
