Superb Heated Washer Nozzles into Octavia

Featured Replies

Help !

I have just ordered my new L&K Octavia and when compiling the list of goodies the dealer tried to add the option for heated washer nozzles (using the Superb code). The factory have rejected this as a non-UK option.

Discussing with others it has been suggested that the wiring etc may already be in place and it might be possible to simply order the Superb bits and fit them following receipt of the car.

Has anyone experience of this (or better knowledge)

Thanks

Barry

Worth checking the various threads on the Superb II forum re heated nozzles- dont seem to have been too effective over the past few weeks, seems the nozzle is heated but not the tubing, so fluid has frozen in the tubes ie heated nozzles offer no great advantage :dull:

My pipes have not frozen, so the fluid fitted in the factory must be a strong enough concentrate , the only reason for the fluid to freeze in the pipes is if the fluid was too weak.

I also have the heated washers FWIW.

Agree. Have had them on cars in the past and don't miss them. They never seemed to do any good. As mentioned, the key is the right concentrate of screenwash. With the correct mixture you can easily have it working at upto -35 according to the VAG screenwash instructions (or even lower, but that seemed a touch unnecessary!)

Keeping to this had my screen perfectly clear and safe at upto -15 during the recent cold snap. Didn't even notice the fact of non-heated nozzles...

If the washers are heated, that's all well and good to keep the washer fluid from freezing, but that's no help when the fluid then hits the cold windscreen, smears and freezes, obscuring your vision totally, whilst on a motorway!

That's when you have the heated screen on tho'... :giggle:

Is there a heated screen option on Skodas?

I know Ford do them and they seem to be useful.

Not sure on the Octavia but the Superb and Yeti (at least) has the option

It has only recently become available on the Superb, not on the Octavia.

Ford 'invented' it and took a patent out on it quite a few years ago. They wanted extortionate amounts of money from other manufacturers for the idea which no one took up for years.

I think BMW were to the first to take it up

From personal experience, I think its a brilliant bit of kit. My previous car, Ford Focus ST, was specced with it as is my wife's Focus.

It will clear solid ice off it in less than a minute.

I would have definitely had it on the VRS if it was an option, I do miss it :'(
