New Octavia Diesel Orders Build Dates

Featured Replies

I'm currently waiting on the Octavia vRS Diesel Estate I ordered on the 17/10/10. Originally I was told to expect it mid to late March '11, then I was update mid December with build week 51 - happy days.

I phoned up my dealer on Monday just gone to check on my order and he said there was now no build date on the system for my car! He thought it was the computer having a "hissy fit" and would phone me back on Wednesday when he was next in. True to his word he called me back today (Wednesday), but with bad news...

He told me he'd contacted Skoda directly to find out why there was no build date on my car and they told him they have removed all the build dates on diesel orders and will be providing new build dates within 2 weeks! Apparently this is due to such high demand of the diesel engines. WTF!!

Has anyone else heard the same? I'm now concerned that when I do get a new build week (in the next two weeks) they are going to say it's 10 - 16 weeks wait again (I'm speculating here, thinking worse case scenario).

Is anyone else waiting on a diesel Skoda order and has checked their build date/week recently? Does this even sound right? Please help lay my fears to rest!

15 weeks is what i waited.

Ordered a VRS Diesel Hatch at the end of August, Checked with dealer last Thursday and was told its showing build week 2. Hopefully that is still the case!

me to i ordered 28th sep and have been told today it still say build week 3 should be confirmed on Monday :)

I don't know, if this helps or hinders, but a recent discussion with a local dealer about decembers orders suggested that some orders; (perhaps with complex multiple options) might take "a minimum of 6 months". So i'll be interested to know if that comment was based on the belief that they were about to "reschedule" build dates?

I also noticed another thread that reported dealers offering a £1,000 incentive to swap from diesel to petrol.

I have just spoke to Skoda and they informed me that my car is now at build week 5 was build week 4. I asked about the delays to diesels and she admitted they where having problems, however that as my car has a provisional build date then I should be ok.

You could almost get a Morgan quicker

Ordered 19th June, picking up on Saturday. 29 weeks!

Must admit I was starting to get worried as I hadn't been given a build week yet despite having placed my order on 11th Dec. Dealer contacted me today to inform me that were BW 7 (14th Feb) (sorry got exited when i saw the date).

We will see!!!!!

Robzer don't want to sound bad, you will be lucky if you get the car built then unless it is one the dealer has already pre ordered by luck to your spec. Hope you do get it quick but just be aware.

He could get it then as its petrol. After all if they are not putting any diesels down the line there will be plenty of spare capacityemoticon-0105-wink.gif

agree - re robzer, for a petrol that sounds right and is in line with what Ive been told

Don't eat your words mate, it's a 2.0ltr CR 140 Elegance and I was as surprised as anyone to be given that as a build week. was expecting 20 at least. The vRS TFSI is my current car

I got the same build week (7) for a 1.6 CR 4x4. Placed order Nov 26. Also in NE Scotland . . .

Just to follow up my previous post:

I've been informed by my dealer today that, as planned my car has been built and on its way. Don't know if I was just lucky but hopefully this points to the storys of all Diesel orders facing further delays not being 100% correct!

Ordered On November 22nd. Had buildweek confirmed today - week 5.

vRS Diesel DSG.

Lett hand drive though.

Ordered 19th June, picking up on Saturday. 29 weeks!

bloody hell! I ordered mine the same day last year and got it in september! Glad yours has finally arrived.

Had to call into dealer last night to sort out rattle, & he has been advised that new diesel engined Octy builds are being suspended, expected to be approx 8-12 weeks - Not Confirmed, if you have ordered one before end of dec 2010, you MIGHT still get it during the suspension period.

However the good news for anyone who ordered a Petrol version stands a a very good chance of their date coming forward ( he had a fabia vRS order that was wk 15 brought forward to week 5).

I ordered my VRS CR DSG on Dec11th. Was told yesterday it is listed as week 7 build. I queried the 'no diesels' rumour and he told me that it was for new orders, but any pre-Xmas orders were OK.

I hope he is right, as if it delays I'm cancelling.

I can only assume the reason the no-VAT offer is only on Petrol models now is because of the lack of diesel engines too.

UPDATE

Thanks to all those who have replied. I phone up my dealership today to see if a new build date has been published yet, and good news - build week 6!

From what they could gather they got it wrong when they said that diesels orders had been suspended. As lfc958 suggests it is new 2011 diesel orders that are suspended.

So with the 2-3 week delivery to the dealer I could potentially be getting an '11 plate rather than a '60 plate Octavia! So although I'm going to have to wait a bit longer than I had hoped, an '11 plate would be nice. Although the wife's a bit annoyed; we ordered a Fabia Estate 1.2 TSi 85 bhp Elegance for her at the same time (17/10/10) and she's been told build week 4. Which means that with the 2-3 week delivery to the dealer she will just miss out on an '11 plate.

Anyone know if it's possible to delay it slightly so she'd end up with an '11 plate? Cheeky I know.

Thanks again!

Ordered a new diesel on October 4th. Initially given week 16, but then changed to week 3 and I thought yippee, but now it has no build week - frustrating isn't the word!!

Before I placed my order, I was told by 3 different dealers, that once the vehicle arrives at the dealership, it must be registered within 14 days, in order to comply with Skoda UK's VAT free offer. So if your wife's car is build week 4, and delivery to dealer is usually about 3 - 4 weeks later, you should be able to have it on an 11 plate. Just ask your dealer, if you don't ask you don't get, I am sure they will allow it so long as they comply with Skoda UK's guide lines per registering within 14 days.

Sounds very similar to my problem. I waited a week then called back and they gave me a build date pretty close to the original build date.
