Mice in engine bay - warning!

Featured Replies

This is what one has done to mine - eek!:mad:

Picked up today at 20k service and of course its not covered by the warranty.

Not exactly common I suppose - damage can hopefully be fixed without new loom.

Any ideas on how to prevent this sort of thing/has this ever happened to anyone else?

Images were taken by dealer.

Please - no more wind ups - I think I've heard them all today - had loads of stick!

Has it not been driven for a while?

Is it garaged as the only thing I can think off to prevent it happening again is to make something else in the garage seem more desirable to the little buggers than the loom - like a trap with a tempting morsel:D

Used daily - and parked on the driveway on a fairly busy road.

Well for all those furbies out there with dashboard "squeaks" - perhaps here is the answer.

This used to happen quite alot on the Vauxhalls I used to work on. The dealer used to store cars at a farm unit and the bastids used to get in everywhere. Funniest one though I thought was when i strated up an Astra, put the blower motor on and was caught in a blizzard of white paper. Turns out the mouse had turned the pollen filter into a nest next to the motor under the bonnet.

Thats is repairable using the wiring repair kit no worries.

Plus that point there is quite a weak point for corrosion on the Fabia so make sure any repairs are well sealed up.

Cheers Ross  - there was talk of a new wiring loom being needed possibly, but dealer will try wiring repair kit first and thought this should do the trick.

Lets hope so, or it wont be funny! :(

Do the Furby's not have Cats then??

Jimmy - this could be why. I swapped my old cat for a sports cat!

There was me thinking it would be more effective at keeping up with the mice. ;)

Oh dear. :shakehead

Matt

I found mouse droppings and chewed up bits of wood in the boot of my Audi!! Hadn't been driven for 6 weeks though :D

Saw a Golf in the Ford main dealer bodyshop a couple of years ago, with the entire interior stripped out...dash' and all!

Asked what was going on as it didn't appear to have crash damage, and was told they were simply waiting for Rentokil to come and flush out the mouse nest that they suspected was buried in one of the cavitys under the floor pan.

Flamin' rodents had eaten the wiring loom and seat base foams. On the verge of being written off. :thumbdwn:
