Fair Price?

Featured Replies

Have to sell my 4 month old vRS hatchback diesel CR 170 DSG in corrida red with 2000 miles. Been offered 18750 by WBAC. Was wondering if this is fair given recent changes to octavia prices. Anyone else had to sell theirs recently?

Thanks

WBAC offered £16895 for my year old one with 8.5k on the clock.

Best thing is to always have a look on autotrader and skoda's website and see what the going rate is.

Question is are you loosing much on it, if the answer is no then its probably a good price.

Jeez thats not bad. They must be aiming to sell it for £20k if thats what they are offering you!

Considering the no VAT offer at Skoda, I would say that isn't a bad price.

Whatever you do, do NOT use WBAC, you will not end up with anything close to their quote.

When the asses the car, they will find non existent problems and reduce the price they will give you. Their assesors are paid bonuses based on the reductions they achieve from the quoted figures and will do everything in their powers to do so. They set the price, and will be a lot lower than the already quoted figure.

Selling a 4 month old car will always result in a significant loss, and if you have the car on finance its worse because of early settlement penalties. The break even point is usually somewhere around 18 months.

I assume you are selling to free up some capital, just be aware that it could cost you more than just the car to clear any finance/bank loan.

I sold my Mondeo ST TDCi yesterday at WBAC and got exactly what they quoted online. The trick is to make sure that you fill in the defects page as accurately as possible - that way they don't reduce the offer.

They're not doing that on diesels any longer only petrol cars.

Therefore might be worth trying to sell privately given the considerable lead in times for delivery of diesel vRS (6 - 8 months+).

Thanks everyone. Price was after a full assessment and will leave me break even after settling the outstanding finance (inc fees). There aren't any similar ones online for sale that I can see. Didn't know what the VAT being added back onto diesels has meant to others.

I believe they charge an admin fee? Still a good price though, worth taking leaving you with 2000 miles of free motoring.

Bummer! Sounds a VERY good price - having received a quote from them before they were around £3k short of what I eventually received for a previous motor. Personally I would ring round many dealers on Autotrader and see how prices match up. Depending on the exact spec you should be able to get £19k.

:@ damn, I was going to spec up a vRS CR! :'(

Might be worth putting a call into James at Allams, as he might be interested.

Out of interest I got a price from WBAC about 4 weeks ago(Dec) and came back at £15400

Did it again a few days ago (Jan) and it had gone up to £17300, I paid £17400 a year ago (Jan 2010)

This I put down to Trade guides, CAP & Glasses, having gone up in response to new net prices having gone up as there is no VAT free deal.

On Autotrader there were only 5 VRS CR170 DSG facelift for sale. 2 months ago there were probably 70

The Glass's guide suggests the following so WBAC maybe looking to knock you down (I guess your's maybe a 60 plate do maybe it is a fair price):

Skoda Octavia vRS

2.0TD Diesel 5-door Hatchback

6 Speed Auto Clutch Manual Front Wheel Drive

Year: 2010 10

Mileage: 2,000

Part-exchange Price:

Excellent condition:

£17700

Average condition:

£16800

Below average condition:

£15300
