VRS TDI problems

Featured Replies

Thanks for the links guys and also thanks for reposting to other affected user forums!

purely out of interest which injectors and which engines /year model etc are affected if its something to be aware of or has it now been ironed out now?

All the injectors from the the 2.0 TDI PD engines that use piezoelectric Siemens injectors and Siemens ECU's are afected by this problem.

The 2.0 TDI PD engines that use Bosch solenoid injectors and the newer commonrail engines are not afected by the problem.

As far as i know Skoda used the piezoelectric system only on Octavia VRS 2.0 TDI (BMN) form the year 2006 to the introduction of the commonrail 2.0 TDI engine (CEGA) in 2009

The most problems were on the Passat BKD 2.0 TDI 140HP engines. There are allot of cases where the owners changed all of them before the cars reached 100.000 miles.

BKP wasn't it? I don't think the BKD was ever fitted to the Passat, and has solenoid injectors anyway.

Sorry for confusing the two  . You're right BKP is the piezo engine in the Passat.

Hello guys, I know I've already posted on anothe thread but thought I'd share some links I have (a few as the rest are restricted from work unfortunately) so you how SEAT and Audi forums here and abroad are also having these issues and complaining... Credit to the members of Audi-Sport.net for finding them and sharing of course!

I'll cross refence your forum here as they are keen to see who else in involved and how big the problem is!

Thanks

Still no response from VOSA, I have taken the time to contact my dealer directly and I am waiting to get a written response on dealership's stance on this issue... don't let the problem die out, we have a few weeks more till they respond, keep pressing, keep people informed!

So when the injector fails, what is actually failing? Is it some kind of mechanical failure or is it electrical? Is the wiring loom itself compounding the problem? If so, would it be better just to bite the bullet and change the loom to be on the safe size regardless if you haven't yet had any problems,

My garage said the connector to the faulty injector was "naked". The same injector was replaced at 16k, before I bought the car. So it could have been dodgy work from the dealership, a faulty loom end killing the injector a second time, or the injector damaging the loom after it failed... we will not know till Audi come up with an explanation, which I am confident they won't.

I replaced the injector and loom just in case.

VOSA update, VAG have agreed to replace failed injectors for free. They will only cover the part cost, and you should be able to push for all 4 to be replaced if you push with the dealers.

There is a further meeting happening sometime in the next weeks between VOSA and VAG to iron out the fact that replacing AFTER failure does not solve the safety issue, and whether money can be claimed back for all who had to pay to get this done in the first place.

Great news jfarhead, will be interesting to see if they agree to precautionary replacement.

What will they replace them with - not the same part I assume?

Just had a call from VOSA. Apparently VW should be calling me this week to discuss reimbursement for the failed part, and replacement of the remaining injectors with modified parts. The seal arrangement on the old parts can allow oil into the injectors which then causes failure.

Anyone else heard similar?

Audi and Seat guys have also been called up.

We're getting reimbursed on all previous repairs and having all injectors changed.
