My best MPG so far

Featured Replies

How much extra is a VRS CR over a 1.8TSI Elegance? Last time I looked it was well over £2K, even with the extra MPG of the diesel thats alot to make back.

Hardly a relevant comparison considering that the VRS is a sporty model and the Elegance is more of a 'comfort' model. I wouldn't have considered the Elegance model (no 18inch wheels, sporty suspension, spoiler, different bumpers etc) but the Parkers calculator calculates that the VRS models would take 22k miles to break the CR even against the petrol:

I will have achieved this in a couple of months and truth be told probably already have as i only pay £155 road tax, i pay less than £1.40 a litre and get more than 47mpg....oh and i got it base price for nearly £7k less than that.

Earlier in the thread you were posting about 1.8TSI and CR VRS, in peformance terms they are a fair comparison as the petrol VRS is on a different level to the diesel VRS. It may suit your circumstances with the high mileage you're doing but not everyone else is. There's also no belt to change on the petrol every 4 yrs, bigger 18" tyres also cost more to replace and there are no DPF issues on the TSI.

Now had 6 fill ups with my 10 plated Petrol vRS on Fuelly, and its averaging out at....

33.6 mpg

Best has been 35.5

It also tells me its costing 18.1p per mile to run

Its still a lot better than my mk1 vRS used to manage

I am not denying that - it is just that on every MPG thread or 'which VRS to choose' thread, lol starts banging on about (falsely) how good the 1.8tsi is and that it is more powerful and ecomnomic than the CR. Personally it would be a VRS whether petrol or diesel over an Elegance or L&K. There are also very rarely DPF issues on the CR nowadays anyway.

very good facts and figures about the 1.8 tsi because thats what i am thinking of getting just to get the dpf filter out of my life

We went to twycross on sunday comming back I was going well over 70 into treble figures for an hour and 15 mins and it averaged 48.6 which totally amazed me.......
