Badgerman. I had same issue and I folllowed the Instructions here using shielded cat5 cable, works brilliantly. The purple connector is just an antenna required on the older units

  • What box is fitted into your Octy? ...if it begins 5N0 and ends A, B or C it's rSAP only, but you should able to replace it with a D or a 3C8 module, with no coding required, giving you HFP and rSAP

The antenna is also needed for the newest units! Only the units that only support HFP don't have an antenna connector, since this antenna is only needed if you connect via rsap.

Perfect thanks guys, I will order the cable from Poland and try to get stereo with it.

Anyone else had experience of using this cable rather than soldering (I don't) have a solder so would be similar price to doing Bagpus's idea on pg3.

This arrived in 4 days and took 15 mins to fit. I am no auto electrician either.

Hi, 15 mins is better than 2 hours!

What was the process for fitting, please? Easier to go via the transmission tunnel, no?

Don't suppose the E version does 4G data? Anyone know...?

I've not seen any functional difference between the D and E revisions since I swapped mine over. Looks to be the same basic hardware (HT5) but a newer HW and SW version.

Well I just went the short way and then put the cable under the pedals and car mat. I can't see or feel it and I had know idea how to connect it all through the back with the other wires. The wires are plug and play. dead easy if anyone is worried with a MY10.

Thanks. And it connects between the Bluetooth module and the back of the Columbus?

Yes.

I undid the screws in the BT module, took the blue wire plug out, took the front trim off with a bike tire leaver. Undo the 4 torx screws around the columbus. Then took the -ve terminal off battery as read it stops CanBus errors later.

Then pull out columbus, remove the green plug, slotted the green and blue wires to the obvious numbered slots as per insturctions and confirmed earlier in this thread. Then put the green plug back in.

Push wires through hole in the right of the columbus space, I then feed it to the pedals (trickiest part and used iPhone light to work out the path), moved wire across to accelerator pedal and pushed under the gap by the carpet. under car mat. Then push into the clearly numbered slot of the BT adapter. reconnect the BT module.

Reconnect battery, check it works with iPhone BT with columbus still out and BT adapter not screwed in. Worked fine for me with an eBay 5KO D.

Screwed it all back together and put trim on. Reset clock. Drive 20m and ECU & airbag warning lights resets.

My iPhone now connects automatically through BT and music or podcasts starts straight away if paused.

Job done. Hope this helps. As mentioned I am no electrician and was chuffed to get stereo A2DP for £100 with wire and BT module.

Thank you mate. That's much appreciated!

On my 2014 today , i tried to answer a call and it just kept ringing . I disconnected phone bluetooth and still it rang . I had to stop car , switch it off and lock it before it stopped. It's the tour de france model

  • 1 month later...

So I updated my unit to the latest module E but it connects premium fine and goes mad and hangs when the wifi service is started, my friend tells me that this may be because my airtime company 3 UK suspect that I am putting my sim which has a unlimited data plan into another device to allow people to share and use the unlimited data.

I believe its a problem with 3 UK .. any ideas how to work around this? - I love RSAP because of the signal I get everywhere its fantastic, but losing the data connectivity is pants to be honest.

That's very strange then as I have tried 2 modules one of which was a "D" and this one which is a "E" - its all fine until the wifi is turned on, I still think it must be sim related as for example whenever I tether on my ipad or other phones connect to me my 4gb tethering allowance doesn't go down at all and its like its never been used. Other people I know have their allowance reduced.

Any pointers you may have before I return the item would be good, I am simply plug and play cant see there is anything else to do, when I tried before I went to a specialist and he plugged it in to his magic machine and said it was all turned and activated as it should be. I have tried 2 phones also both Samsung Galaxys though (different models) ,,.Cheers

There's another thread on here where the three sim appeared to be an issue also. Can you try someone else's phone with a different provider to rule out the module??

Yes I will try that also both galaxy's were on 3 also! I just wondered if there is a separate parameter to switch on wifi in VCDS?

It is but wifi doesnt even appear in the menu without that in the coding.

I will try another phone without 3 and report back...I think it's 3 detecting the sim isn't in the phone and blocks it somehow

Hi,

I am having the exact same issues with a Galaxy S4 on the three network., It connects via rsap but shows no network on the columbus system. I have also tried my sons S4 on EE and it connects no problem at all. This is using an older module 5KO 035 730B. I have rooted the phone and installed rsap app etc etc but still have the same issue with three. Wife has the same phone on three with a later sim and she also gets the No Network problem. I have a new module on order 3c8 035 730E which i still doubt will solve the issue. I am beginning to think I may change network when contract is up for renewal. Very Frustrating !!!!!!!!!

I will let you know what happens with the new module when it arrives.

Hmm is it a 3G or 4G sim card Wens?

Sent from my Galaxy S5

4G I assume as I get 4g when its available..

Just a thought. If you have an old 3G sim card put that in the phone and try again. As I belive that might be the issue here

Now you may have a point there !

However I only have one micro sim. My son has a 4g EE sim and has no issues.  I am tending to think its the three network and restrictions they seem to have.
