Would look good on a kids toy car! Whats wrong with the current logo, the only people that don't like it are the ones you pass and have to re-pass you cos they've just been passed by a Skoda. Converted my wife to look beyond the badge and now we are looking for a newer one.

There were better designs proposed on the Yeti section of this forum about a year ago.:0)

If true then presumably any new vehicles produced will have the logo. Will this be from date of launch of logo or kept for MY12?

Curious because my car should be made late March/early April

Just had a look on Skoda Auto Website and look what is lurking in Yeti concept pages- a gnats whisker away from some of the above links for a new logo!

Actually, I don't think it's all that bad - it has retained the original symbol, albeit with reversed colours, and it could be argued that to rely on this and to omit the manufacturer's name (a) results in a less fussy badge, but more importantly (B) shows their confidence in brand recognition from the symbol alone.

According to the wiki history of Skoda, there are two key dates; March 28th when the joint venture was agreed and the 16th April when VW started taking over Skoda Auto shares.

Interestingly March 28th falls on a Monday beginning of production WK13, whereas the 16th April falls on a Saturday (end of WK15). So if it is more than just a press generated gossip then WK13 might be a good bet as it falls nicely into the production cycle.

Will wait and see but my Monster may have the 'new look' if true, as she's currently been pushed back to week 15 :wonder:

Likewise, currently week 15 - so could be the new silver/green/blue logo.

There is a saying though refering to fashion, " Blue and green should never been seen" - meaning colour clash.

I'd happily have this one on my new car;

But the ones posted above which are predominantly green are terrible

My provisional build week is 9 but it was previoulsy 15- I wonder if I'll get a new badge!?

But the current badge is predominantly green!

No it's not!

Old one on the left, rumoured new one on the right.

Old one is predominantly black and silver with a green bit on it. The new one has much more green. Too many colours are not good for a badge in my opinion (black and silver do not count as colours! :p ). Too much potential for it to clash with paintwork.

Well, I would still argue that, on the current badge, green is visually predominant and if anyone were asked what colour is associated with the Skoda badge they would answer green, not black and/or silver. Just my interpretation!

Re-reading the thread the "new" badge looks not bad at all!!

Totally agree with that. I guess we can disagree with how much green there has to be for it to be the 'predominant colour' but with the old badge it's concentrated in the centre and surrounded by a neutral colour so it won't clash with anything. Not so on the grren one with the blue circle around it.

But there's another one - look here!

And thatsvthe one that looks like a turkey!!

Sliver on black was in use with my first Skoda's; winged arrow was changed to green to reflect the companies environmental credentials I believe. However it was for many years oh yes blue :giggle: Personally I'd ditch the green but keep the blue outer and also outline the arrow in a dark blue on a silver backdrop B)

Anyway a link to the official history of the Skoda logo Skoda Auto

The two things I don't like about the current badge are, 1. Its size - it's too big for my taste, and would look much more elegant if half the size, so would the 'projected new one, and 2. The large number of them I have noticed (now I look carefully whenever I see one) that are deteriorating badly - some just around the edges (mine included on the back) and some all over (as has been reported here).

Assuming that Skoda believes that folk look at the badge, they should ensure it is made to a quality that endures - nothing detracts from the brand as much as if all the badges look scruffy, IMO.

I thought the grey one posted by Steve looked good! But I fear that green, even as displayed on this forum, is a big part of the Skoda trade dress.

I agree that this version is horrible!

No need to change the badge, nothing wrong with the present one. We'll know soon enough if there's any truth in this, keep an eye on your local dealer's premises for any signs of painters and sign installation specialists. :S

As a brand that doesn't cater for badge snobs, why change ?

People now know Skodas to be good cars anyway.

To quote:

"Am I bovvered!"

i'm with graham on this one.

the old badge is good.

the new one is just as good but slightly different.

i would be quite happy with either on my yeti....

so long as the one on the boot doesn't get watermarks like the one i have now
