Still can't believe I am at this late stage ordered 04 Nov and build week 8 (unconfirmed) is almost on me I contacted my dealer and it took them nearly 4 weeks to get back to me to tell me I cannot add maxidot without replacing order. I really want it but having not had it do not know if it is worth replacing order? This would not affect price of car much if any and I am very annoyed at the time it took to be got back to after calling chasing them for an answer would nearly cancel order and go elsewhere and loose my deposit to just annoy them some more now also see people here with orders including full sized spare wheel something I was told is not an option on Ovtavia VRS only a space saver for £50.

As I see if pro is getting what I want as a customer. Con being id not see my new car for 5-7 more months.....(I do not need the car urgently I have a heap of French engineering that will run fine until then but ........ ITS FRENCH!

Do not think getting maxidotis worth it. On the wheel front you can only get the space saver in the VRS. I think the confusion is that the 'space saver' for the VRS is not what a lot of people call a space saver hence they will often say it is a full size spare. The spare is a 16" ateel wheel that is a little bit narrower than the alloy but no where near as skinny as other makes of space saver. Hence I do not think you have been given made information on the spare front.

It really depends on what options you specc'ed. Maxidot allows you to customize some of these like the lighting, satnav, reversing sensors etc.

And gives you better more descriptive fault diagnosis. Eg. if a bulb fails, the non maxidot display will give you an indication that a bulb has failed and its up to you to locate it, the Maxidot will tell you exactly which bulb. Same with door open indications, service indictions and a lot more besides.

its well worth the small cost, but wether its worth losing your build slot over is another matter.

IMHO, it's not worth losing your build slot over. I ordered maxidot and OK, it's not a vast amount of money, but I wouldn't miss it if I didn't have it. A bit disappointed tbh as I thought you'd be able to configure more stuff. Although as said above, depends what your full spec is.

With SlimAdy on this one. "Is that it?" went through my mind once I'd scrolled through all the options.

All I've used it for is to stop all the windows going down when I press the unlock button once too often (useful feature in this climate - not!) and switch on the daytime running lights housed in the front fogs. Other than that, don't see me using it much to be honest.

Excuse my language but that is bull**it you can change your order at an extra cost of £50 without having to re-order. I did it and added xenons and full leather, a lot more than just maxidot. If dealer not willing to help call Skoda direct regarding this and tell them what your dealer has said however do it today not in a week time. In a way it is late but hey, unless you ask you dont request. GO TO SKODA DIRECT. It can be done and should not mean re-ordering.

I don't have maxidot - I would spec it if and when I order another Skoda but I don't miss it as everything was set up as I wanted it by the dealer before delivery.

Bob.

You can adjust your order right up to build confirmation from the factory, once confirmed only then it cant be changed, for obvious reasons.

Any BW date you get up to confirmation is only advisory, Speak to SUK customer services give then your order number & ask to have Maxidot added ( if you still want it)

As far as full size spare is concerned, for a vRS, the only way to get it is to have a nice dealer sort 1 out for you ( mine did ) as its not an option in the brochure.

Took delivery of my New Oct 1.4TSI Elegance Oct 2010. I too with hind sight would have ordered a Maxidot.

You paid?! I changed my colour, added a DSG gearbox and an electric seat for free (bar the cost of the options of course!). As long as you do it four weeks before your car gets built it costs nothing to change your order bar the time your dealer has to take to update the codes on the system. He is having you on for sure. James at Allams will even do a change TWO WEEKS before build and also for free. Speak to SUK if your dealer still does not play ball.

I tried SUK customer service and they said im still unconfirmed for build week 8 should get confirmed next week fingers crossed but that I could not add to it now ..... :( I said I asked for it just over 6 weeks before the unconfirmed build week and they said "the system might not have allowed it as it was so close" gutted :(

If you've got xenons then you will need maxidot if you plan to drive in euroland otherwise it's a trip to the dealers before you go and after you return. I had no problem changing my order 2 months before build.

Alternatively, if SUK won't accept an order change, take delivery of your car and see if you can live without maxidot. Have a look at someones car which does have maxidot and if you decide that it is something that you really do want then speak to someone like Ben at Shark performance who can retrofit a maxidot binnacle for you and recode the car as necessary.

Cheers Ian might be the best line to go down now as strange as it may sound I want maxi dot more for its appearance than its functions standard one looks so cheap in comparison.

Thanks for the advice all I will hopefully get confirmation for build week 8 next week (they did say if its pushed back a good bit I "might" be able to add my maxi dot otherwise its order back to July.

Totally appreciate and understand what you're saying about Maxidot. I wouldn't have an Octavia without it either - for how it looks as well as what it enables you to adjust in-car.

Best of luck adjusting the order

I wish the dealers would get a grip of Maxidot and all the other accessories. How many times have we had people come here and not even know what Maxidot is? The dealers should be advising, for what it costs it's at least worth informing the Customer and then if they don't want it, nothing lost!

I consider Maxidot to be essential if your car is packed with accessories, also if you have a car with DRLs.

Agreed. They need a better understanding of what they're selling.

To put bluntly, but in the main, from what people come on here and say, it must be true. As they're gaining the information they need from this forum, and not from the dealer network.

i dont have it and definately dont think that im missing out...... the car is so much fun to drive other toys are

just not needed!

I love my Maxi-Dot, also works well with factory bluetooth.

Maxi-dot & MFSW came as standard with DSG but I did check.

Bolero sound quality is quite dissapointing.

Some dealers seem to know less about their product range than their prospective customers !
